FRHornet
Im wanting to change my summer gear soon - leathers and gloves and a new helmet to match. Originally I didn't want to spend loads, I was thinking of RST Rift 2 piece leathers/gloves and an AGV Stealth helmet so I went to the Rocket Centre to have a look. The AGV was a horrible fit, felt too tight so I tried a Shoei XR1000 which felt perfect. Better than the RX7 Corsair I have (going to keep that for winter use with textiles). So does anyone have experience with the Shoei? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/berryyar/p17_artifact20tc-1_b.jpgLeathers, I want black 2 piece. Tried the RSTs on which felt good but then the GF pointed out these Dainese Laguna Seca (2 pc in black) which looked and felt mint! But they cost a bit more than what I originally wanted to pay. Are Dainese worth the extra money over RST? For some reason i've got into my head that Dainese are bought by people my dad's age (really old) Is this accurate? Obviously not according to the photo...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/berryyar/T_Laguna-Seca_div.jpgI could do with some recommendations for gloves - leather, black and long cuffs. Around £60.Cheers Edited March 22, 2009 by FRHornet

MtotheJ
I have the xr1000 after the extremely bad decision of getting an AGV k3 which felt like there was no padding in at all. Love the shoei, extremely comfortable and the extra room around the ears is excellent as your hears don't get flattened!

Then the rub on the lid and get really sore!!!! Thin cotton balaclava solved that problem though!!

FRHornet
lol Found some gloves im interested in, the Aplinestars SP-1. Now i've got some of these in red/white (which im selling) but they must have changed them recently because they look different. Anyway, they seem a good price at £56 so i'll find somewhere to try them to get the size right, then order.Still not made my mind up about the leathers yet. Thanks for the replies! FRHornet
Helmet... Check. (Iffy photo from phone)http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/berryyar/31032009344.jpgIts every bit as good as everyone on here said. Comparing it with my Arai RX7 Corsair; its lighter, fits my bonce better, quieter and looks better. And it cost £199 of the net.I'm happy! Ratser
Very nice mate.I treated myself the other week and got a nice Arlen Ness NJ-3296 jacket in black and white and Forcefield back protector. Also recently got hold of an Arai Viper GT Sinister lid. Mk5Centurion
Nice looking gloves. Its all down to the fit...i used to have an AGV Q3 (Alex Criville rep - ask your dad/uncle) and that was a great fit. I think the quality of AGV lids has lessened over the years, I used to work for J&S 1997 - 2000 and then Hein Gericke about 4 years ago and i really noticed the difference. I never owned a shoei but there fitted ok - currently using an Arai Astro which i'm very happy with.Dainese kit is nice although i'm not a fan of the gloves - they used to be a bit thin - i had a nice Daytona retro jacket but i used it very sparingly and then sold when i got a bit porky!Have recently bought a nice Furgan leather jacket that seems pretty bombpoof! FRHornet
Arlen Ness do some nice stuff but you do pay for it. I was looking at the Sinister lid in a shop the other day and the graphics did look smart. I've tried the Dainese leathers on that I posted on the previous page and they felt alright, but I didn't like the way they looked at all! Also tried an RST 2 piece on and found it quite comfy and it looked good aswell, so will be purchasing a set in black. (and saving £300 or so over the Dainese!). If they fit, think i'll get some matching RST gloves. Cant find those SP-1s in black and dont want them in red anymore.
nigelwood1
I bought my Shoei XR1000 from http://www.racevisors.co.ukAt the time they were about the cheapest and you got a free 2nd visor with it..I got a dark tint visor with mine and both were pinlock ready.... FRHornet
Racevisors weren't quite as cheap as Helmet City, even with the free visor. I got the my tinted visor from RV though!
