Guest Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I have two problems. I've posted on here before about it but thought it was time for a fresh post. 1) There is some sort of electrics problem with a connection somwhere: Sometimes the bike acts as if the spark plug is not plugged in; ie. it does not spark ( even though it is plugged in ) and fiddling with the cables underneath the tank seems to fix that problem, but i'm not sure what cable is to fault. 2) I have some sort of engine problem after storing it uncovered in the cold and wet for 6 weeks. The bike is only 7 months old but i would like to try and fix it myself before taking it down the warranty road. Problem: The engine does not tick over nearly as well as it did before it was stored outside - every few ticks you can hear a 'bad one', and it takes longer to get it to tick over on its own than it did before. I can build the revs up to quite high, but should i open the throttle too quickly it will 'choke' and cut out. Further more it doesn't sound good at all and when the throttle is held still at about 5k revs the revs will continue to vary randomly.I have no idea what the problem is - i've checked the air filter - theres nothing wrong with that - it's clean inside apart from a few tiny splatters of oily residue but i suspect that is just because it's so new. I've not tried to clean the carb because it looks too complicated and would take a long time and i think there's a chance that i might not be able to get it back together the same way - so i'm reluctant to do that unless i'm sure that that is the problem. The only thing that looks visually different with the bike since it was stored is a blotchy salty like residue on the gulp valve but i dont even know what the gulp valve is or does. Thanks in advance for any advice. Ben Quote
