I was there and stood on the bank on the next corner, we were gutted :(


It was a calamity, he was trying to get a flag off the marshalls ( oh just seen its in the vid....DOH :roll: ) , waving his arms about etc, he was not a happy chappy


He has to be one of my all time favourite riders too, they were great years

Schwantz, Rainey,Lawson, Doohan, Mamola(the king of the wet track),Roberts, Gardner.....some epic races

You know you're getting old when you remember the fathers of the new riders...


loved the sidecars, and the 125's was just sweet...


you must've been very near where me and my mate were, we were just after redgate, before hollywood, or was it craner curves..


and Haslam did a rideround with a competition winner on an ABUS Norton, in white..

Was that the race where Haslam had a wildcard ride on a Norton rotary like he raced in the BSB but they'd made it 500cc?

i think it was a rotary in white, but he was convalescing from a previous injury so just did a lap of the track..with pillion

I was there for the GP the year after he retired, he came back to accept a gift from Donington for all the excitement he'd given the crowds over the years.


They gave him an Oil Flag if I remember correctly :lol: :lol: :lol:
