Gem Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) I have to say that as someone new to motorbiking (I'm just a pillion at the moment ) I'm extremely disappointed at the lack of products available to women! I only have a helmet (a Caberg V2R Essence which I love) and gloves (RST Chicanes) but I want to get a leather jacket soon, and then some trousers and boots eventually, the problem is finding something I like that has a bit of colour in it (I'm not a fan of wearing all black) and is going to provide me with good protection. So to all you lady riders, what gear to do have (helmet, jacket, boots etc)? Would you recommend it and why? Thanks in advance!Edit:// my boyfriend bought me a Teknic Venom Leather Ladies Jackethttp://i41.tinypic.com/ws2u7m.jpg Edited April 30, 2009 by Gem Quote
MonkeyKnuckle Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Although I'm not a lady I can tell you J&S have a woman's department.https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/view_category.php?lid=1 Quote
Korben Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Not a lady either, but look at Alpinestars "Stella" Collection. Also might be able to find something here.http://www.ladybiker.co.uk/ Quote
Gem Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Thanks guys!I was thinking of maybe getting a Richa Ladies Fury Leather Jacket, Draggin' Jeans 'Candy' Combats and TCX SS Performance 2 Woman Boots. Does anyone have any opinions on any of those? Quote
Korben Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 All good. The boots and the Jeans especially.Have you got gloves and back protector? Quote

Korben Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I have a personal preference for Knox (The Knox contour is very good)Forcefield are meant to be very good as well, and Alpinestar produce one. From what I understand for comfort and protection Forcefield are meant to be the best.Good guide here for selection and fitting:viewtopic.php?f=32&t=15836 Quote

Ratser Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Now I see why the back protector is required here, but it's not for an off Quote
Pete Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I agree with what everyone's said, especially EVERYTHING that MonkeyKnuckle has posted !Jackets often come with 'inbuilt' back protectors (bits of foam, pretty much!). They're OK but are usually of a lower quality than a dedicated one. I agree with Korben on the Knox Contour - I have one, very comfy, lots of protection too. The Forcefield range tends to score very highly in reviews. There are lots of womens clothes to go for! Granted not as many as for men but I suppose that's OK considering in department stores blokes normally get the smelly dark corner when women get the rest of the shop!! Just go for whatever you think looks good, but make sure you have adequate protection. There's nothing worse than feeling like you've bought something because it looks good, but you're scared to get on your bike because you know it won't hold up in a collision As for stores where you can get good kit, there's J&S which has already been mentioned. I notice you live in Coventry which isn't too far from me in Redditch. J&S is probably your best bet, but if you're able to go a bit further afield there's a store in Halesowen called Street Bike which is also pretty good. There are probably some good ones in Cov as well, just get on google and have a look round a few of them.Stick with the whole motorbiking thing, I've heard it's quite good fun! Quote
