Yamaha RS100 1980, running poorly........

I have a Yamaha rs 100 1980 and it is running quite irratically. It starts fine and runs ok at slow speeds but as soon as the revs pick up it starts to lurch and splutter. It feels as though the fuel isnt getting through very well. So far I have cleaned the air filter, cleaned the carburetor and checked the points. I was going to look at the oil pump setting and maybe bleed it to expel any air? Am very new to mechanics but keen to learn and would greatly appriciate some expert advice. Thanks in advance, Ollie.

when was the last time it was run..,. could be old/stale fuel, also as its a 2 stroke, is the pump working, otherwise its not getting any oil,. which will end with a seized head.

sniff the exhaust gas, two stroke have a distinctive aroma..
