Richie Welsh rider # 48


Richie is a 29 year old electrician from Hull and has been racing in the UK for 8 years ,a three times national supersport 400 champion Richie has also raced in the New Zealand National Champoinship with some success . In 2006 richie took to racing on the Irish roads for the first time and competed in the prestigious North West 200 , narrowly missing the podium but still winning the best overall newcomer for an event which saw more than 350 riders from over 20 countries take part .


In 2007 Richie moved up motorcycle size and took part in Triumph Triple Challenge , after scoring several podiums on his Triumph 675 he suffered a near career ending injury which resulted in three operations to save his left leg .


Back on a bike in August 2008 , 11 months after his accident , Richie contested the last 4 rounds of the Derby Phoenix 11 round national Formula 400 Championship back on his trusted Yamaha fzr 400 rrsp taking sevaral hard fought podiums and a double win at his favourite track Oulton Park in Chesire , finishing 7th in the overall standings .


With his injury demons behind him Richie will contest the full Derby Phoenix Formula 400 Championship in 2009 and starts as one of the favorites for the title.

Yup cadwell mountain, and he goes like hell!!


Wish I had the race report from Croft, he did amazing! Good luck Richie! :)

I am really new to watching racing and have only really watched moto gp is this on the tv at all :?
