Ingah Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I'm considering buying a Loobman (cheap chain oiler), from this which i believe to be the official website: http://www.chainoiler.co.uk/Has anyone got any opinions or used one before? Any good/worth it?It seems to be an excellent, money saving idea from the descriptions on the website - but i don't want to go throwing money away on a talked-up-waste-of-time. Quote
TC Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I Think Akey has one one of these and swears by it. Quote
nman1 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I`ve got the Scottoiler myselfe and it does me good. Make sure you get the end nozzel onto the side of the chain if you can and not just the top. Quote
Guest akey Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 As Korbs said, I have one of these (loobman) and its great. It takes a bit of faffing to get it fitted and it really is a simple device (but it is only £18). It works as advertised and if you have any problems the guy is really helpfull.I have fitted them to 2 bikes now and the only reason I wouldnt fit one again is if I was only using the bike for the occasional sunday blast. I use normal engine oil and it does what it says on the tin, I think the loobman is worth every penny! Quote

Guest akey Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Sorry, brain said TC fingers typed Korbs Quote
Korben Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 No worries mate.I went to get one and my bike garage talked me out of it... As I am not a day to day rider he reckoned good maintenance (Regular cleaning and lubing) would work fine.He was right.... Last time I had to adjust my chain was about July last year and that was because I took the back wheel off to get a new tyre fitted... Check it on a weekly basis and it's always perfect. If you commute on it though or ride 6 out of 7 days then get one. Quote
chrisgatguis Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I got one, works a treat. very simple and like Akey i just use normal engine oil in it.Depending on where / how far away from the sprocket you mount it determines how long the oil will stay in the tube, so for me (relatively short jeurneys) I have it mounted on the pillion foot peg which means the tube is less than a foot long and therefore oil will run out quicker.
