I had a topbox for my Honda Varadero 125. it was ok and fitted the metal bit (i think thats the rack) ok. it was a universal plate (the plastic bit the box atteches to???) and all was well. Not sure on the make of the box.

Basically the universal plate does not fit the rack on my pegasso 650. But this is becuase there are like slanted slits in the plate rather than losts of holes so i cant get it central, and if i can, its so far frowards its haf way other the passenger seat.

Basically, the pegasso has a plate on it already which the old owner must have fitted, whcih is already securley fitted to the rack. The problem is there is no box, so i have no idea what box fits the plate that i have.

The plate looks like this:

the only difference is the two holes you can see at the top of the plate is just one long hole, there is not the plastic divison there. Any ideas what box i need?? i will add a photo of my actual plate in the mornin.

thanks.

your picture is a givi plate so givi boxes and kappa boxes will fit.

get some flat bar and drill holes to match with the holes on the plate (round ones) use allen bolts and nyloc nuts, otherwise use the elongate (square holes) and large washers again into flat bar, have the plate above the rack and the flat bar below making a sandwich, you'll need to remove the old plate first.

Yeah the plate is already fitted to my bike so i just need the box. The plate on the bike doesnt look exactly the same as in the picture though, the 2 holes at the top aret two holes on my plate their just 1 long one, you think Givi will still fit?

Givi & kappa ore one in the same

there are two types of plate, one with the slotes like yours to fit the small box

The other plate has two moulded hook at the fwd end for fitting the larger box

I think yours will be for Kappa K35 box,, but check, top box & plate are usually

supplied as one,, Tell your dealer you only want the box & get 8 quid of the price,,

I did

seeing as you put your location as UK, no one can tell you the best places to go,,

If you lived by Chester then you have a dealer on your doorstep

Ok i have a pic now just so i can be sure. I was going to just get a top box but if i can get a box to fit what already fits on then thats better, mainly because i already have a box with a universal plate but the universal plate doesn't fit :(

Universal Plate = Universal for fitment to bikes, needs fitting kit that is bike specific or one for a current rack,

NOT universal for TopBoxes..

just to clarify.....

just to say that i have managed to get my old 'universal' top box on. with a bit of improvisation involving drilling holes through the plate and using curtain hangers as larger washers. But its on fine and isnt going to budge an inch. Had a fairly heavy load in it and accelerated hard as possible in some stages and didnt budge so all is well.

Thanks for all your help

and as for the mystery of what box fitted my plate it was the aprillia original one. which was cool until a 30 liter box cost me 60 quid. so i managed to get my universal 47 liter to fit which is excellent. cheers

I'm, not a fan of topboxes as they spoil the day to day lines..

I had a Shad system, but got rid of the mounting plate and box to JadeMongoose, but for MFN a box would come in handy..

so out of the shed have come the side bars, they've been cut and drilled ready to take some metal bar internally, so my topbox will be more like the ventura system.. will post pics tonight..

topbox rack on or off by undoing two nuts/bolts.. so i maintain the day to day look, but for times when i need luggage Mikeys run. MFN etc, i can fit a box..

strength is maintained by having two lengths of 20mm x 10mm steel/alloy bar internal down the old tube frame and bolts to secure..

this method has worked for my paddock stand, so should easily cope with a 90ltr box..

sounds probably more complicated than it is but seems a good way to go. my bike is kind of intended to have the whole top box thing going on anyway and i can take it off when i don't need it so i'm not so worried. just need to get my stuff to Germany really :)

i have quite a big electronic glove box thing when i don't use the box so thats ok :)

but yeah post some pics would be interesting to see :)

the only worry i have about a top box is how are you supposed to get your passenger on... lol.

Posted

they put one foot on the footrest then poke the other leg between you and the box.... then sit down, alos get a foam support that sticks to box, mnakes your passenger happy as something to lean on especially for your overseas trip.. less gripping on for dear life..

same as you would do, can't swing leg with box in the way, and you'd already be in position holding the bike steady..

So now i undo two bolts and lose the rack, just as quick to refit, very similar to the ventura system, for soft luggage..
