Kawasaki ZX-6R cooling

hi

hopefully someone can shed some light on this as i have a 2007 (599) model ZX-6R which always seems to run 'hot'

i did question the dealer when i bought the bike from new and told they run this way.

when the bike is moving the engine temp sits around 60-70 on the dash display but once stopped the engine soon warms to 100 and the fan cuts in. there are no coolant leaks noticable and the bike has covered 5000 miles from new.

the bike did cut out 3 times when slowly filtering traffic during a hot day so i guess somethin aint right.

anyone got any suggestions? flush coolant etc???

cheers

hi

sounds normal to me as these modern bikes are built for speed so they get very hot when going slowly. :)

you need to worry if its 110-120 deg.

is your tic-over set right as this may be a bit low when its very hot so check and see how you get on.

and check your air filter too as this may be a bit clogged

I have the 2005 model mate. Mine seems to do the same, shot up to 110 yesterday when riding but seems to cool down when you pick up speed :P

I have zzr 1400. When I picked it up from new, the dealer rode it to the back of the shop cos my gear was in the car. (5 second ride) he went over the usual this is the "ya ya" and this is the key for "ya ya" it took about 2 mins and the fan was on """WHAT"""" I rode it up the street, stopped at lights, fan was on. Went to fill her up, fan was on. Its got better as its run in, but its not good. Came home from work today, peeing it down, so speeds were slow, it was cool/cold..fan came on. Kawasakis run hot...NOT GOOD!!

My 02 sits at about 90 but will soon go to 102-104 when standing still on a warm day before the fan kicks in, I havent had any cut outs though

Sounds normal to me. 103c my fan suppose to cut in. Without the bike being on the move does not take a bike long to start cooking with all that plastic holding all the heat in.

He's to warm sunny days
