MAGS Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I have a Bridgestone BT014 on my Gsxr750 K5, ive done approx 1400 miles and im almost down the the TW indicators . ANyone any ideas why this tyre is not lasting? Quote
Guest Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I assume it is the rear?If you purchased the tyre yourself, you can go back to where you got it from, replace it and ask them to send it back. Unfortunately, you'll have to pay for the replacement. However if a problem is found, you should get some sort of recompense, usually a voucher of sorts for a discount on your next bridgstone. Obviously, you need to be able to prove the milage. Are you particulary heavy handed? Still sounds like a lot of wear though Quote

Guest Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Might be a silly question... have you checked the pressures? Quote
Colin the Bear Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Sounds like you are enjoying the bike. The least milage I've had out of a rear was 900 miles. That was commuting and scratching. The type of riding you do affects milage. A lot of touring will bump it up. Mway riding will square it off. What you bin doing? Quote

Bit of both , no chicken strips on it at all bit of motorway between newcastle and york but try and get as winding roads as I can as much as poss. Quote
zzr lon Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 sounds like you will get around 2k ish out of it if its getting down so for a gsxr 750 that's what id expect.i used to get poor mileage out of sport tyres (fast riding)but i use st tyres now and get a lot more mls Quote
Colin the Bear Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 No chicken strips Says it all really. If you want economy ease back a little. Harder wearing tyres have less grip but work out cheaper. Your callhttp://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z28/Colin_the_bear/dunno.gif Quote

TC Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I used to run on Bridgestones. But when i got my new bike it came with Michelin Pilot road 2 tyres front and back. I was abit unsure what they were like but wouldn't go for anything else for what i do. Motorway to Wales or where ever and then on the twisties. Not a speed demon but like to make a decent pace. 3000 miles on and the tyres hardly look touched. Quote
Guest Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I'm running Dunlop Roadsmart Sportmax on my Fazer 600 with a mixture of motorway and A-road riding. So far I've done around 6,500 miles on them and the rear has squared badly but is still within limits. The front have also started to square off a little. I don't think they would have squared off so much if I didn't ride on motorways throughout the entire winter (80 miles a day round trip to work).I'm going to stretch them until 7,000 miles... and maybe 8,000 miles before changing the pair. All in all very pleased with them, but may try out the Avon ST Storms next... Roadtorque Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I had BT 020's on the new kwak I bought,, They were 40 miles short of 10,000 beforeI had to change them,,I was quite chuffed, could be I'm not as heavy on the throttle & brake,, bit less power & a bit less brakedoes a lot for tyre milage,, before you ask, no I don't hang around, Quote
nigelwood1 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 The new BT021 is the replacement for the BT020 and is dual compound and quite sticky on the edges... I use them on the ZZR1200 and they are very good....Front sticks like poo on a blanket..... Quote
dredge3 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Bridgestones come with the zzr1400 as standard. I am told they only do 1500/2000 miles but they stick Quote
nigelwood1 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 ZZR1400 comes with BT014 or BT016 as standard...BT021's last quite a bit longer.... Quote
rennie Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I've got 021's on the fazer, seem ok!I might get avons next though they're cheaper! Quote
