Guest Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Hi there, i have recently been given a rather nice shoei full face helmet however it doesnt fit properly. The helet is a size xxs and im a medium, i was wondering if the size is dependant on the size of the lining and foam on the inside rather than the shell of the helmet, if it is the foam and linning is it possible for me to but replacements at medium size and put them in the xxs shell?cheers, will Quote
Korben Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Unfortunately mate it's the outside of the shell... You might be able to change some of the internal pads, but not sure that will acheive the desired effect... Quote
Mightycaz Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 How much is your head worth? I would just go out and buy a new one that fits properly. If the lid is the wrong size it could come off if you have an off. Imagine dropping an egg off the side of yo0ur bike whilst doin 30mph that could be your head! Quote
Stu Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 "some" helmets are the same shell and different lining personally i would ask the shoei stockist as they know best but if the helmet is a XXS and your a medium then i would say there is way too much difference to just change the lining Quote
Guest Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 yeah thats true Mightycaz, cant put a price on your head. think ill juss have to fork out. cheers for the replies Quote
Guest Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Shame nice lid...But i agree with stu, going from xxs to medium is a bit much... you may have been ok small to medium... Quote
Guest philgale Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 id say putting more padding in ie going from medium to xxs as your adding more stuff between your head.i dont like the idea of taking padding out, not a nice thought if you go head first into the road Quote
Colin the Bear Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Just apply Vaseline to your hair , duct tape your ears back and pull. Take some aspirin with you cos you might get a head ache A bit like trying to wear shoes three sizes too small Remember it's a piece of safety equipment not a fashion accessory Quote
Roadtorque Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 After all that, you've found out why you were given it Quote
Guest Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 a good fitting lid is something you shouldnt skimp on pal.have a look on shoei`s web site im sure you`ll find some info on there but if it were me i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole shame really. if it was a second hand lid i`d also be weary of it you dont know its history and in the event of a prang you just dont know if it would hold up.
