Guest Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 OK, so its only a 50 cc 2 stroke. New petrol and all that. New airbox, battery and plug. The engine starts and runs while the revs are high, and vroom vrooming , but as soon as its left to idle it splutters and dies. Cleaned the carb, checked for any kinks in the fuel line, adjusted the carb air/fuel inlet. Nothing. Still the same.Any ideas what else I could try? Its not as if it is a major piece of technological art? Quote
Pete Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Only one carb? If it's more than one then try balancing them, that helped mine when it had the same problem.Check the gap on the plug. Even new ones need gapping. Can't think of anything else, sorry! Quote
Guest Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 50 cc, one carb. I wonder if a hose somewhere has a tear in it. That was what was wrong with a Yam, so I might try that. Quote

It is not cold as as it runs for a while when revving it up. I'll check the carb to engine later today. Thanks Quote
Pete Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Yeah that's a good point. One of the jubilee clips on my carb to engine manifolds had gone (don't know where!), so I replaced it and it smoothed out my idling somewhat. Don't know why I didn't think of that before. Have you checked the blanking cap on the carb...though perhaps it doesn't have one if it's on it's own. Just kicking ideas around. Quote
