PhatDad Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Hi,I'm just trying to fit the cyclone alarm I bought a couple of weeks ago. I'm at a stage now where the instructions state that I need to identify the main ignition wire and I can tell that one because it will become positive when I turn the ignition on. They then go on to say that this could also happen on other wires. Sure enough, three wires do this. I have three wires, a brown, a brown and white, and a brown and blue and I'm not sure which one is which. The only manual I have is for 1990 models and upwards and they show the wiring as red, red and black, and brown and orange or something like that so I'm not sure which is which.Any ideas anyone? I'd go for the coils, or the kill switch.. not the starter.. as it can easily be bypassed by bump starting.. Quote
PhatDad Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 There's another wire that goes to the starter relay to immobilise the bike. I think that's what it does anyway. I'm just not sure what the main ignition wire is supposed to do so can only tell by splicing all three wires at a time and seeing which one gives me the feature it's suppose to give. Quote

PhatDad Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 Thanks for the help guys but I've sorted it would seem.I chose the brown and white striped one and in all intents and purposes the alarm seems to be working. Although, it might be the anti hot wire cable and I won't know for sure until someone tries to hot wire it. The alarm sets and switches off. The anti tamper warning tells you to go away. The cool blue LED flashes when it's armed and doesn't flash when disarmed. The remote start works so I can start her up from the comfort of my own living room. Lets just hope the thing works when I ride it and doesn't immobilise it while I'm cornering or something. Quote

Yeah, or I could leave the choke on when I park it up last thing at night. Quote

And it's just part of the alarm system, I doubt I'll use it, however, when it's cold and frosty and I'm in a hurry you never know. Quote
