Guest Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hello everybody,i'm new to this site & wonder if anyone can help.just bought a honda cbr600rr 05 plate & everything was ok till the other day, when i came to start it and all i could hear was a kind of buzzin under the seat when i tried to flick her over,so i charged the battery up which was a bit low, turned on ignition & only the neutral & clock where on nothing else not even the pre checks ie. fuel revs or anything else came on, checked fuses they are ok,so could it be the battery or starter magnetic switch which keeps buzzin,as everything on the bike is original. so could someone uot there please please please help as i am a little bit baffeld by this. Many thanks Matilda. Quote
Stu Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hi Matilda welcome to the site drop in to newbies and introduce yourself as for the bike get that battery back on charge its well and truly flat if it doesnt take the charge it will be new battery time its not doing the pre checks as the battery doesnt have enough power and the saem with the buzzing/clicking of the starter relay which is located under the seat not enough juice to power it Quote
Guest Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Hi Stu, thanks 4 the info, as the battery has been on charge since yesterday morning i'm going to try it later,if not how much would u expect 2 pay 4 a new battery & where would u reccomend ie.which company.i just hope it isn't the starter relay under the seat as well. Many thnaks again for your info you are a top bloke.speak again soon Matilda. Quote
Pete Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 However if you're completely sure the battery is fully charged then make sure you check the connections are all secure and free from corrosion. Even on a newish bike on an 05 plate it's not impossible for the connections to get a bit mucky. The clicking noise, like Stu said is the starter relay. I had the same problem on mine about a month ago, it happens when there's not enough power coming through. As it was doing SOMETHING before you charged it and is now doing NOTHING the best thing to do is to check the connections, I'd say. Maybe something came undone while you were fiddling around. Quote

Part of the troubleshooting for these things is to remove them from the bike, check the connections, connect it to a battery (for no longer than 5 seconds) and check that a clicking noise can be heard. As you can already hear the clicking noise, it's fine.As for a new battery it depends on what type your bike uses. A quick search on Google tells me it's a YTZ10-S. Varta are very good batterys, I bought one yesterday as it happens for my GSX600F. I got it off ebay for £31 inc. postage. Definately spend some time looking round and don't waste your money on the high street EDIT: Here are some batterys. Note the huge difference in price! Before you go out and buy one though, make sure to do the checks above. The truth is that when a battery is run completely flat it will never hold a 100% charge again. Some people can live with that, others just get a new one.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YTZ10-S-Honda-CBR ... 1|294%3A50http://www.thebatteryshop.co.uk/ytz10s- ... -221-p.asphttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-CBR600-RR-C ... 1|294%3A50http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Geniune-Yuasa-YTZ ... 1|294%3A50 Quote
Guest Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 The number on the battery is actually FTZ10s not YTZ10s does this make any differance as it is the original. Quote
Pete Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 The first two letters often refer to the manufacturer. The actual battery will be the same. Take a look at this article on batteries (geeky yes, but informative too!)Clicky Quote
