nuttidave Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Hi, I have my theory test booked for 23rd June, and have subscribed to the 30 day trial test on the DSA website, I have also bought a copy of the Highway Code. In your combined experience, is this enough to help me get through?thanks, Dave Quote
Susieque Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Are you a car driver??If so you'll find that a lot of it is similar to the car test, and you'll find your driving experience will make the Hazard Perception seem like common sense.I would've thought you've set yourself up with plenty of practise there! Korben Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Like Susie says if you are a car driver you will find it easier. My only recommendations would be to make sure you can practise loads on the Hazard Perception... It can be tricky for all the wrong reasons unfortunately.... Quote
Bogof Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 is this enough to help me get through?thanks, Dave This was enough to get me 48/50 a couple of weeks back And it's free...http://www.all4bikers.com/theory/ Quote
MtotheJ Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Yup hazard perception is more of a game! The best advice i got for it was click when you see a potential hazard, click when it starts to develop then click when it has developed. But dont click too much though!! As for the questions, just do tonnes of practice questions! When you get em wrong, look up in the highway code why you got it wrong! Quote
Guest Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 did my car test about 2 years ago and my bike one last saturday, i baught the dsa official cd which was great and then paid i think a tenner for 50-60 hazard clips on a site search google and its one of the top ones, well worth the few quid for the hazard clips as you can watch them after and review it , do this for a few hours at most and you will be fine no problem,i know its simple but alot of the questions are common sense and most of the time you can ignore 2 out of 4 options if it is even debatable which one you pick., i just spend a hour an night for 3 or 4 nights practising just to make sure, it does get a bit tedious when you seem to get the same questions half the time but cheaper than paying another 31 quid and dont be a pillock like i did for the first one i booked where i forgot to take my paper counterpart good luck Quote
nuttidave Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 Thanks, yes I am a car driver but did my test over 20 yrs ago. I am a cyclist aswell and ride around 150-200 miles a week so am pretty well clued up on hazards, as with a motorbike I just assume everyone is out to get me!!The only downside on the hazard perception practice is that I am an Apple computer user and most of these things are Windows.I know that the pass rate is 43 in the theory, what is it in the Hazard Perception? Guest Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Q How will the test be marked?A There will be 14 different moving scenes on the Hazard Perception test screen. The scenes will have one hazard to identify and one scene will have 2 hazards to identify. You will not be told which clip this is. The 14 scenes will be taken from a bank of 200.You will have to identify the moving hazard by clicking a mouse. For example, a car pulling out in front of you, as quickly as possible. You will be given a 'window of time' in which to spot the hazard. The score will depend on how soon you identify the hazard - the longer they take, the lower their score. You will score a zero mark if you either click too late, or repeatedly. Q What is the pass mark for the Hazard Perception Test?A Different pass marks are being set for the different categories of test.Currently the pass marks are:-Car and MotorcycleCurrent pass mark - 44 out of 75LGV and PCVCurrent pass mark- 67 out of 100ADI and LGV RegisterCurrent pass mark - 57 out of 75The CD that was mentioned above was really helpful, i used it for my car test. got 50/50 on the questions and like 58 on the hazard perception, just spent an hour or two when i could revising. Really useful. Quote
