Hi all

i have a cbf600 and i took the side panel of the other day and i noticed a valve on the air intake to the air box, its connected up to a vacuum diaphragm (looks like!!) and the hose disappears somewere down towards the throttle bodys, the other end is connected to a "door" which will close shut when the vacuum sucks hard enough, presumably at high rpms, is this thing strangling what little power i have on my bike  or is it an important part to do with getting the right mix of air and fuel,

Any help appreciated,

Thanks...

this thing seems to be open when idleing im not even sure if it moves because when im going along i cant see it, i would imagain it opens as the revs get greater not vice versa

Its the flapper valve in the airbox, they can be removed, its a popular mod on a Hayabusa and the TL's as Stu has said, not sure about a cbf600 though, it controls the airflow into the airbox, closes at low revs and opens at higher revs, can be a restriction at high revs too, hence removing them on the bigger bikes.
