Guest Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Hey people, I'm back aint been on here for a while...I sorted the Exup Valve and all the other stuff... I think ha...One more thing left to do I think anyway..... I have a fuse problem, there was a '20' in there, for the Rev, Indicators, and Lights... But it blew, bought another one, blew, bought 3 of them, and put a 25 in there, blew, 30 in there blew, but... put another 25 in there to see how it is doing it, went home, all ok... stopped at a junction turned my lights on, indicators, and breaks were on, so pretty much all the things were on, carried on going home, and just as a I put my clutch in, went through the gates and it just went, bike still goes but all the lights turned off and rev clock stopped, I really can't figure out what it is...My bro things it might be the regulator... Anyone got any wisdom to share? Quote
Scott Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Sorry can't help with the problem, but I wouldn't go fitting higher rated fuses because one is blowing. You could end up burning out something expensive, fuses are rated for a reason you know. Quote
Voodoo Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I'm with Scott, at least your fuses are cheap. Not got a clue what it could be though Quote
Guest Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 if it was the regulator, i doubt you'd have had them on without it blowing, check your wiring for a bad earth / frayed-damaged wiring.., its tripping out on the frame.. Quote
DutchMick Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 You could have water in one of your connections under your dash, I had the same thing a few years ago, fuse just kept blowing, so I disconnected everything and there was dampness in the headlight connector, dried it out and it was fine. Took bleeding ages to put the bike back together again. Strangely I always seem to have screws and bolts over everytime, oh well I suppose it cuts down on the weight Quote
kja.busa Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Sounds like a broken wire/bad earth, be wary of putting larger capacity fuses in. Quote
Guest Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Moved into Pitstop for ya I was gonna say ... 'Walney Frankie will find it in there.. ' but he already has ... Quote
Guest Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Haha, cheers people... I think I'm going to go with the Water in the connections somewhere... We had a really heavy rain day yesterday... and my t-shirt under the seat was wet... So I think there could actually be water in the fuse bit itself. Or in the indicator one. Quote
Guest akey Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 If fuses are blowing its for a good reason, don't just keep replacing them or you will cause more problems.I would go with what others have said, its probably down to a short somewhere either from damp getting in, or from worn / frayed insulation.I would start by checking all your connection points and putting some white lithium grease in them to repel the water, do a physical check of all your wires where they come close to other bits, and where they are clamped.Hope you find it ok mate.
