ugenmzs Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Hi there,I have a Hein Gericke Textile jacks and am going to buy Leather trousers for my distance riding - (have a pair of textile ones for about the town.)Does anyone know how tight they are meant to be, especially around the waist. I understand that leather will stretch overtime but not sure if I should go for ones that are roomier or tight to begin with.Any advice appreciated! Quote
Guest akey Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I would say they should be snug (ooo errrrr)Leather will give a little, but you dont want it uncomfortable to start with. Quote
rennie Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 in 30 odd years biking i have never had a pair of leather trousers that actually fit me properly!but that's cos i'm fat! Quote
Guest Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 What Akey said, make sure you take your kit and or bike to the shop with you. Make sure you assume the position so to speak!!That way you can tell how comfy they'll be on the bike. Quote
MtotheJ Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 THey should be snug, but you need to sit down on your bike with them on to see how they fit on the bike.Where are you in the country mate? If youre near Southend or London, i can recommend a brilliant shop that does some custom leathers for a really good price. Quote
Timmy Tiger Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 They should be snug, or else it'll look like you've had an accident when your walking along, if you know what I mean. Quote
nman1 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 If you have a kidney belt or back protector, and you intend wearing this all the time, make sure you take it along when you try your trousers on. They do tend to put inches onto the waist measurment. Get some strong braces as well, they help keep them up and prevent what Tiger Tim`s on about Quote
ugenmzs Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 Thanks for the tips, I ended up going for a 2 piece leather race suit by Alpine Star, £400 so decent deal I reckon. Quote
Colin the Bear Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 After the first time you get your leathers wet they fit a lot better. I buy them loose and eat into them. Quote
