Guest Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I've bought a new alarm for my bandit and will fit it ASAP but am currently having a few issues with where to put it. There's not an awful lot of space under the seat (unlike my old Fazer) and the only place I can see it can go is underneath a metal plate where the locking mechanism for the seat lives. In order to fix the alarm in place I'll need to drill two small holes in the plastic to fit the fixing screws... problem is this then means that not only will the nuts be visible from the rear wheel arch, but there is opportunity for water and crap to get into the under-seat storage area.Anyone ever had similar problems? I also want to fit my scottoiler under the seat and there ain't much room for movement! Quote
rennie Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 under seat is too easy to get at!how about under tank? The harder it is for you to fit, the harder it willbe for some scrote to rip it off! Quote
Bill_on_a_bike Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Is it a bandit S? If so there's gotta be a spare bit of space behind that front fairng.Rennie's right though, hard work now will make it much more secure. Quote
Guest Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 yeah true, i'd rather not put it somewhere where its easier to rip off!I'll be looking at removing the tank anyway to route all my cables (grips, alarm led to front of bike and scottoiler vaccum pipe) so I could find somewhere suitable for the alarm then. I did think about the front fairing but I think under the tank sounds like a great idea. Quote
Guest Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 with the scottoiler, take the rear fairing (Seat) off and mount it running along the frame tube, you can get to it with the seat off and you loose no space, i put mine here on my B6 '97...http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg250/simonevans73/Bandit20scottoiler.jpg Quote
kja.busa Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 If you drill the rear mudguard just put some silicon around the screws as you tighten them up to form a watertight seal, or a rubber washer (plenty in your local diy store). Personally I'd put it under the seat somewhere too as opposed to fitting it behind a fairing panel, its safer under the seat. Quote
Guest Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 instead of bolting the box down, couldn't you stick it down with silicone..? as for location, i'm with kja.busa, under the seat.. if you look at my picture (prev post), coudn't it go in the tray above the battery.. you shouldn't be able to see it from there.. plus the big LED gonna give away that there an alarm fitted... bandit alarm.bmp Quote
JonnyBateman Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Mine is just cable tied to the side of the subframe underneath the seat fairing. Quote
Guest Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 still have to do alarm... but just finished the scottoiler and well happy will post pics later... but basically removed rear fairing and sited it on the frame... looks great Quote
Guest Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 All done (alarm and scottoiler) and well happy... just lots of hard work. Here is a pic of where the scottoiler is positioned... completely out of the way but still easily accessible... result. Quote
