I was just about to ride to town on my trusty CX500 when it suddenly went kaput. I went over a speed bump and on the way down then engine completely cut out. I can't see what the problem is.

There is a spark and fuel is getting through, but it is not turning over. It was low on oil but not empty so is seizing a possibility?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried bump starting the sucka? Does it try and turn over at all? i.e. does it make a sound, or is it totally dead?

If you manage to bump it then it could be starter motor related. Feed us more info :D ...

How low on oil?

When you hit the starter button is there a click, anything? See I'd say the starter or the relay or the battery was dead, but it just stopping dead like that is odd. When it stopped did it lock the back wheel up or did you roll to a stop?

you say you have a spark and fuel but it wont turn over

how did you make it spark if it wont turn over. :?:

is there an alarm fitted :?: if there is this is most likely the cause.

check wiring at all the earth's and the regulator connector and make sure the battery connections are tight and clean.

stand switch etc

as its almost certainly an electric fault its a case of breaking it down.

faults like these are a pain but usually a simple thing and its an old bike so im sure you are used to the fun and games :x
