martlewis Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Just received and installed a FogCity Hyper Optiks insert in my visor. Will give it a try this evening and see if I can, well, see. Typical though as it's light reactive there's no bloody sun today. Will be back to let you know how I get on with it. Quote
Sheep_onna_Bandit Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 You'll love it, I promiseUnless you've fitted it like a certain person Quote
nman1 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Shouldn`t get any fog in it yet pal, not in this heat. Wait till it rains then you`ll see if it works. As it happens they are good. Quote

martlewis Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 The fog city worked wonders riding in the rain this morning, the rest of my visor was well misted up but I never had to lift it once whilst stopped The glue is a bit rubbish, keeps oming away at the edge tho. Quote
Sheep_onna_Bandit Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 That does surprise me! I tried to recycle one of my old inserts into a new visor - not a cat in hell's chance of that coming off! Quote
martlewis Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Might have to look into getting some plastic contact glue for it and doing a very careful glue job. The visor was well cleaned with alcohol based wipes, dried spotless and the insert fitted exactly as instructed but the glue doesn't seem to have set at all. The anti misting works wonders but I'm having to reattach the insert every time i ride. Quote
Guest Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Is it a pin lock, or adhesive Fog City?I had an adhesive one, and it would not stick at all to my visor. At least twice a week I was re-applying it. Later found out that the visor was slightly coated for anti-fog, which stopped the insert sticking. The anti-fog coating on the visor worked at certain temperatures, but did not work well enough, which is why I bought the Fog City Hyper Optik, which was amazing... when it stayed in place.I ended up having my visor drilled for a pinlock system, and a Pinlock insert installed by The Visor Shop (www.thevisorshop.com) Quote

The shop told me that you can't install pinlock (even with a diy kit) onto a Caberg Trip helmet. Quote
Guest Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I have a pin lock its brilliant that is until I put my sunnies on and they steam up instead LOL time for a tinted pinlock but its such a pain the thought of contuinually switching them over Does anyone know if you can get reactor light ones Quote
Guest Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 The Fog City Hyper Optik changes colour in the sun, and I think they do a normal light reactive one. However, I've only used the adhesive one, which worked great, but did not stick. The pukka pinlock one may be better.Other than that - buy a tinted visor pre-coated for anti-fog. This may mean carrying your clear one too, depending on what time you're out riding. Quote
Guest Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 That s the thing you see I always intend to be home before dark but in most cases never am so will look into it Quote
Guest Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I was after a light reactive pinlock insert recently. I couldn't find them. Geyser down the shop said they don't do them. So I took out the pinlock and fitted another FogCity HyperOptick. Works as charm for me. Not quite dark enough though, will be investigating a dark visor soon enough Quote
martlewis Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 Damn thing dropped out again this morning. Will see if I can get hold of some suitable glue for it. Quote
martlewis Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 Nail the b*gg*r in Cool, I'll give it a go. Do I nail through from the outside of the visor or from the inside? What size nails? Quote
Guest Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Official Forum Advice. When it won't stay up - put a nail through your helmet. Quote
Guest Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 i'm sure if you ask a mate nicely theyll nail it for you..nail from the outside, you need your head in to make sure its not gone through to far.. Quote
martlewis Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 Sorted! Cleaned everything up again and repositioned, then I ran a bead of Evostik Serious Stuff glue all the way round. Dries completely clear and is safe for plastics including visor! That was 2 hours ago and it's well and truly stuck Made a point of getting glue that doesn't smell, didn't fancy fumes inside the helmet.B&Q didn't sell plastic nails so I had to settle for glue!!!!!
