kojak_79 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 got an nsr 125 and noticed it runs quite cold, most of the engines do, just wondering as heat is the main problem for 2 stroke do you recon i could fit a slightly bigger carb and rejet to get a bit more powerCheers Chris Quote
Chrissb6 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hi, If it running cold could be a couple of issues. My first check would be, If its water cooled to check the thermostat and cooling system is working correctly.Secondly if you know anything about checking a 2 stroke engine, take it out run it up get it hot and then do a plug chop. Check the condition of the spark plug, crispy brown colour is what your looking for. White or black then you have got issues. In general you will not be able or need to fit a bigger carb, though you might need it rejetting to get the best out of it, also check the air filter this is a must.Note: Don't mess with it if your no sure, 2 strokes are not forgiving, if you get the fueling wrong, you could end up with an hot or even cold seizure. expensive Quote
Voodoo Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 If your trying to make it go quicker, then one of the best and cheapest ways with a two stroke is to de-carb the exhaust. Some have a metal baffle type thing that pull out of the exhaust and then you can just blow torch it clean. Others have none removable baffles, which you then need a special liquid to clean them inside. If you use the liquid, make sure you follow the instructions, its nasty stuff and also gets extremely hot! Quote
