Hi.


I'm in need of some help. My Exhaust is in dire need of welding to last till I can get a new one next year after my loan is paid off.


Basically number 4 downpipe has snapped off the collector and number 3 is close to go. It's an old Marshall Deeptone system. I can travel within Yorkshire and Manchester.


Plenty of beer for anyone willing to help. I'm free tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday.

that will be hard to weld :?


have a feel of the steel around that area and see how soft/thin it is


it will just make a bigger hole :?

Somebody suggested welding a bit of metal round the outside of it as it is thin and the other 3 pipes are close to breaking. Baffles in the silencer have disintegrated as well.


All it has to do is make last till December when my loan is paid off and I can get a new one. Looking for the original twin 2to1 pipes as then I can put the centre stand back on.

i wouldnt attempt to weld that :?

It's been broken for a long time and has been spot welded which made it leak still.


Once it's made gas tight, most of the cold starting and running issues will disappear.

yeah it'll be real hard to weld that, you would need a really low ampage welder maybe, it will just melt everything, you would have to sleave it to get it to work but then the rest of the pipe may even be too thin to weld too, try gun gum bandage and putty

I'm a welder by trade, and I'm sorry to say, thats beyond repair, should you even manage to clag it together, and thats doubtful, the build up internally will restrict the flow of gases and lead to a build up of carbon. Sorry but its time to flash the cash and get a new zorst.

I thought as much.


I am aware the exhaust is past it as it's the original to the B reg bike and has had 3 of the 4 downpipes spot welded on which did pass the MOT...


Drained the carbs today and over the next week i'm going to replace the oil, drain the tank and put the bike on axle stands. I'd sell it but i've gone too far with it. It's lasted 12 years stood so a few more will not hurt it.


I will not be able to get a new one costing £300 (Wemoto) for a long time due to personal reasons. To be honest, the bike and other things over the last few years has been one dismal failure after another and it's kinda depressing.

Keep a look out on ebay for second hand stuff, also try ebay.com the American site, thats what I do and I get most of the stuff I'm after, it need not be a crisis. I know a guy who specialises in stainless fabrication and makes bike exhaust parts, I'll drop him a text tomorrow and see what he says, he may need your originals as a pattern though.

Yep, he can make virtually anything you want, the guy is very talented.

Well, none of the breakers on ebay have any exhausts.


If anyone knows any breakers please let me know. With any luck someone will know someone with spares. I can afford up to £100 max. Any condition taken as it only needs to last till christmas.

been asking aorund, you have a PM, hopefully it'll come to something just waiting on pics.. not 4 into 2 originals though, but owts better than nowt at the moment i suppose..

KJA, I thinks we've found an aftermarket system with lazer can in good condition from a breaker on ebay, left details with Stephen (Stelmer) less than 50 notes.... and had pics so looks good so far..

Seen the pics and it looks good. (Hope it's legal, if not the can is getting painted along with the rest of the exhaust.)


I've messaged him through Ebay. Just waiting for a reply now.


Just a quicky, I've read that aftermarket systems can make the valves and pistons burn out? The carbs have been upjetted for the Marshall system though so it should be fine.

you should have no problems swapping the marshall deeptone aftermarket with that of the lazer one, just a different style and noise,


would love a marshall deeptone on my GSX but they dont make em .. love the short length, the cone and the drag style, like the vance& hines ones.. and the noise is sweet too..

Yeah, i'll miss mine and for sure i'm going to save up for a new Marshall Deeptone to replace the laser one if I cannot find the original exhaust.

yeah, i get a nice burble on my quill going over the bridge..open it up in second then drop back on the revs, luverly...
