i just bought a less than year old 125 road bike ,off road style and a mate of mine said it sounds like its going to cut out as the revs jump up and down...so he put the idle up to 2 and half thou...i took it back to the bike place with the info, but according the shp, its perfectly normal...and no problem....and im totally wrong that the revs are jumping around like mad and sounds as if its about to die.....i thought it just old petrol or been sitting for a long time, but ive emptied and opened it up a few hundred miles now and still, no improvement....any suggestions? would be really appreciated, thanks

most bikes idle at 1000-1300 rpm, 2500 rpm is too fast and will pull when you dont want riding along..

idle is the slowest throttle speed before it can knock itself off so can be slightly erratic, but not majorly so....

how much bike experience does your mate have...

hi, yeah actually hes my girlfriends dad, and has been riding since 14 , lol, but i totally agree that it doesnt sound right and the revv needle is bouncing around and you can hear the engine trying to die, but just bounces straight back up, it would die if we never touched the idle screw.

the guys at the bike shop said theres nothing wrong with it , and it supposed to idle like it, but if it does happen to go bad, at least ive mentioned it, i dont have a problem with riding it, just want it sorted.
