Guest Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 1st of all I would like to thank everyone who helped me in my last post. Now I have her up and running, mot'd and ready for the road. We have major power loss!Description:- Start her up from cold and away we go no problems. Could do 5 or 10 mile and come to a set of traffic lights, go to move off and this is near an impossible task. Have to give her lots of revs and slip the clutch to get the speed up. Park her back in the garage, go back out the next morning and starts and drives fine, could be another 3 - 5 miles and she does it again. When she is in this loss of power mode she will sit and run in neutral perfect. She will take the revs no problem, she doesnt sound like she is off a cylinder. Now for what I have tested and checked - 1) Have changed the 4 coils2) have checked and tested the carburettor solenoid valves and wiring = all working ok3) I have removed, stripped and cleaned the carburettors 3 times now and have never really found any traces of dirtAny suggestions would be a big help to me as getting a wee bit pissed off when I try to move from the traffic lights and everyone thinking they have got a 90 year old grandad infront of them !!!!! Anthony Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 aint got a clue, sorry for this post but least you know people are looking at the thread check the amount of fuel as it might not be getting enough under load??? Quote
Colin the Bear Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Could be fuel starvation due to a vacuum forming in the fuel tank. When it does it, remove the fuel filler cap. If it goes away you have a blocked fuel tank breather. You'll feel/hear the inrush of air as you open the filler cap. Quote

Pete Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Just a stab in the dark but could it be clutch related? I know when my uncle changed his standard clutch to an open clutch cover on his Ducati he had to change the pressure plate over and it ran great for about 10 miles then it just wouldn't pull at all. Had the same problem's you've described until he went back to the clutch and replaced some plates as they were too thin. Quote

Guest Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Hi everyoneHave checked the fuel tank and the vent is fine. Took it for a run tonight again and used the same test route as before and low and behold the set of traffic lights turning right - loss of power. Went to my mates for a cup of tea, 30 mins later back on the bike and she ran ok. 1 mile later in the same spot as previously - loss of power. Is it possible that it could be a rectifier heating up and playing funny games? Again thanks for everyones help.PS. she has had a new battery to. Quote
Stu Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 when my reg/rec went on my gsxr that i had it would cause a loss of power and cut out completely so it could be related to that Quote
