This is gonna seem like a really stupid question to the more mechanically minded.


Was going to order some bobbins for a paddock stand for the new bike.

However, how do you measure the diameter of the thread ?

The online stores have either 6, 8 or 10mm.

Doesn't give me any info about the hole guage in the manual, so is there a way of measing the thread properly ?

Is there not some special way to measure a threaded hole ?

Cheers for that TC, that actually looks a lot easier.

Was only thinkig of paddocks stand bobbins as I actually have paddock stands already.

But this makes more sense, thanks.

I've got an Abba stand and I think they're great but a little bit pricey.


To find out if your bobbins are M6, M8 or M10 just measure the width of the hole.

I thought there was some special method of measuring a threaded hole.
