Guest Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Hi all, im new to this forum and was looking for any one that may have knowledge of the 250 bandit, its more of a jap home market bike , there are a few here in Sri lanka as the law only allows up to 250cc , im more of a Yamaha man, having had RD 500 , TR1, DT175, XT550, and a DT125 YPVS here as well as the bandit, the problem i have is that it seems to be running rich? it has 105 main jets and with the needle's right down it runs on the rich side, and has a problem if the rev's drop under 2000, in a higher gear the carbs get stuck in a flutter, and it wont rev over 500 rpm with the throttle wide open, after some time it can come out and rev ok, its worse when hot. i tried 90 mains and it improved the revs and mixture, but still had the flutter problem, needle had to be right down, does any one know what the jet's should be and has any one ever had this problem, its very hard to ride in tragic with the wife on the back when i have to do race starts every time i slow as to not drop below 2000 rpm. any help greatly appreciated. thanks Vince Quote
Guest Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Manual Here...http://www1.synapse.ne.jp/s-hara/bandit/ban-spece.htmlas its a four cylinder with four carbs, i'd look at balancing them, it could be you have some out of balance... http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... 27&t=20649 Quote
Guest Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Manual Here...http://www1.synapse.ne.jp/s-hara/bandit/ban-spece.htmlas its a four cylinder with four carbs, i'd look at balancing them, it could be you have some out of balance... http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... 27&t=20649 Thanks a lot for the link, there is lots of info there looks like my bike is a 45bhp model. there is not that much on carb reference section, the specs on the jet sizes seem to be standard, the problem here is that all the locals think throwing more fuel in an engine gives you more power?? and they do nothing to get more air in, so all the "tuned" bikes and cars here are way over fueled, I think some "tuner" has had a go at my bike before i got it and changed the jets, thinking it may have to large a pilot jet, with a 90 main it runs well, and the needle in the center slot no flat spots.just the below 2k bog problem , with 70 main wont rev over10-11k and flat at 6k, needle down no bog problem, me thinking 90 is good at top (no black smoke).the roads here don't allow high rev for any time, so most things are running over fueled, as you go up to speed then brake hard as a "Tuk-Tuk" 3 wheel bolt out in front of you, or a bus,(worst drives in the world here, yes worse than India!!) but its still over rich at the bottom end. (pilots may be)will try the balance, but starting to think the reason this bike was for sale was this bog problem? Vince Quote
