Guest Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I'm new to bikes and ride a Suzuki GZ 125. What puncture repir kit would be best to carry with me on a long trip. Ideally I'd want to be able to repair the puncture then keep on going without having to go straight to a garage for a new tire. Quote
XmisterIS Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 You can't get puncture repair kits for motorbikes like you can for bicycles! The reason is that because of the much higher speeds/forces involved with a motorbike, it would be dangerous to put a rubber sticking plaster over a hole in the tyre. Also, motorbike tyres are typically tubeless. If you repair a bicycle tyre and the repair fails, the most you get is a big *pppfffft!*, combined with the tyre going all flappy and you slowly coming to a halt.If the same thing happened on a motorbike (i.e. sudden and complete loss of pressure in the tyre), the likely result would be ground/sky/ground/sky/hospital ... Guest Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Okay, well at least that's one less thing to pack for my trip then Quote
Guest Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Link to the pic of a tubeless repair kithttp://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/imag ... andair.jpgI carry the same. I do suggest you have a practise on an old tyre first. So you know what to do by the side of the road. A temporary repair, which should get you out of trouble. The tyre would still still fixing properly. Quote
XmisterIS Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I'm not sure they're really worth it though because you still need to get to the nearest repair place. Quote
Guest Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 for something that lives under the pillion seat, and hopefully never gets used.... for a tenner it, at the very least offers some piece of mind. and they do work....... Quote
Guest Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 for piece of mind, green slime or one of the other products that is inside the tyre, waiting to seal... Quote
