Guest Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Hihad a problem with seized brakes - front twin disks1 stripped master cylinder checked rubbers etc cleaned and rebuilt2 stripped the 2 twin seized callipers freed cleaned rebuilt3 put it all back together4 the handlebar lever was soft and spongy - obviously - air in system5 tried to bleed the system - the lever is now rock solid - but no fluid at the bleed nipple and the brakes dont work and the wheel turns do you think its a blockage - any advice welcomereg ards Quote
Pete Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 If there's no fluid at the nipple I'd check the master cylinder first. However, could you not try slightly loosening the banjo at the caliper end to see if anything happens...ever so slowly though! Quote
Guest Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 HITook the bleed nipple out - pulled the lever - spurt of fluid in master cylinder rose about 1 inch (25.4mm) - but no fluid at nipple housing other than feint wetnessregards Quote
Guest Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 this is how i do it.. get a large syringe, one that will take the bleed tube. fill the sryinge with fluid, and reverse fill.. fill from the caliper, air flows upwards, so the air is expelled upwards as the fluid is filled.. lock the bleed nipple, each time you refill the syringe.. keep an eye on the master cylinder as you dont want to overfill, then bleed/adjust as normal..doesn't work if you have speed bleeders fitted (bleed screws with a one way valve..)
