DeeJ Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I have purchased a SYM Joyride 125cc today and on the ride home it flashed at me all the electrics went off, i.e. nothing on the digital readout for fuel, temp, time, and mileage shows, no lights work, no brake lights, no electrics at all basically. And its a pain to start it of the kick start and when it has started off the kick there is still no lights. Can anyone put me in the direction of finding the fault, the battery is brand new by the way. Quote
DeeJ Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 has it got a main fuse.. has it blown.. I've checked the fuses and there all ok Quote
Guest Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 losse connection, electrical gremilns are a nightmare to find, but tend to be something simple..have you have the bike apart for any reason? if so, could you have missed something when putting it back together.. Quote
DeeJ Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 I havn't had it apart because i've just bought it.I'm just going over it now, but its got me baffled as I can't find any loose connections or blown fuses. Quote
DeeJ Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Yes it connected.I think I am going to have to take it back the guys house and demand him for my money back. Quote
DeeJ Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 have charged the battery and now there is power but it soon runs out, and checked across the battery terminals and theres no power going back to the battery while the engine is running. And when the battery is removed no lights work, but shouldn't the alternator run the lights etc with no battery when the engine is running? Guest Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 no, you need a battery to complete the circuit, however you should have a charge back to the battery from the alternator.. could be the Rectifier / Regulator or alternator are faulty, or have faulty connections..basically the battery isnt recharging itself, so therefore drains and you have no power(electricity) Quote
