got a rear paddock stand, but i need a front one to remove the front wheel, just wondering whats the better option,

1. front paddock stand

2. yoke/headstock stand

I assume that with both you can remove the front wheel, as the paddock stand 'cups' the bottom of the forks?? dont really want to spent £100 on an abba stand.

either are as good as each other

just remember to use the rear one at the same time otherwise the bike can go over :)

personal preference for a yoke stand, as it has more uses, can drop the forks as well. where as a front paddock only allows removal of the front wheel.. again, always use with a rear paddock stand..

headstock stand any day of the week, used paddock stands and to be honest my bike kept falling off it as i tried to put it on, headstock stand is much safer and you can remove the forks if need be

got one from ebay for 55 i think

im guessing this is on the sv ? and you was using a stand that has cups that sits under the forks?

if you look at the forks on the sv they taper off on both sides so when you try to lift it the stand just slides off

you have to get someone to lift the front up as you put the stand under thats what i had to do with our kids sv but it went on and stayed on 8-)

had a similar problem with an prillia rs, the forks were compressing when on the stands at different rates, probably badly filled, but i was changing a speedo drive, my mate (his bike.,.) ended up trying to hold whilst i got the drive and wheel on..

on my bandit/katana/gsx, i am able to jack up the front of the bike and support on wooden blocks, off the crash posts/engine bars... but with an R6 you have the fairing..
