SuperBike's 'Best Ride' Rideout - Cambs to Lincs - 30/8/09

Reading through this month's copy of Superbike (supplement), they mention 'the best riding road' is the B1176 in Lincolnshire. Looking at the map it's not a long stretch of road, but it's not a million miles from Cambridge/Peterboghorror either.

Does anyone fancy joining me for a little jaunt up there this Sunday the verify the authenticity of the 'best ride' road? Up the A1 a short way to Stamford, pick up the B1176 just north of there and follow it through to the A52 near Grantham; then turn round and come back. Should be about 110 miles round trip from Huntingdon, I'm sure we can find a nice pub/burger van en route.

Incidentally, this is only on for me if it's a nice day because I'm gay and I don't ride in the rain (i'm not actually gay but you know what I mean)

The Corby Glen to Grantham stretch is pretty good with loads of undulations and tight bends but punctuated by a few villages so slow down for them as the police do monitor the route. I would also advise you take it steady first go as some of the bends are quite blind and could catch you out if travelling too fast.

as said on Tuesday night, I could meet up for part of the ride. I sometimes go up to the X services on the A1 (on your planned route) for a coffee and then around the back roads out towards Rutland.

Let me know what time and where you plan to meet and I`ll work around your plans (if OK with you).

I would prefer to be back in Brampton by around 1.00pm at the latest, but I can easily peel off from the ride and head back before you do.

Has anyone else shown any interest.
