queen bodecia Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Hey people, I'm finally getting fed up of my badly fitting boots (Oxtar TCS). They were a great fit before my cancer treatment but now I have mild lymphoedema in both legs, I can only get the zip up so far and the velcro half over. I'm concerned that this probably isn't particularly secure in the event of a spill. However, I've tried on a couple of other pairs (Sidi, Alpinestars) and they were worse. I obviously have the fattest legs ever.So any fat leg people out there? Can you recommend me some wide fitting boots to save me from trying on every pair and getting increasingly frustrated? Quote
Guest akey Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Claire, have a look at Alt-Burg boots, they do varous styles and also do made to measure, they are not to expensive either, the lace up style ones may be ok with your new bike. Quote
mojobanana Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Have you tried the Sidi vertigo? I have them and the calf section is adjustable... very comfy and they go way bigger than I need. Pretty comfy too. Quote

Guest Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 My calves measure around 52cm so I struggled to find boots to fit both my calves and my budget. In the end I had to settle for Paddock style boots.http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/products/list/Clothing-and-Helmets/Paddock-Style-BootsThe Diora Paddock boots I chose never let any water in all winter and are as comfortable as slippers. With the winter socks I had to order a size bigger than I normally wear. When the time comes, money permitting I may give the Sidi Street Burner a try.http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/netalogue/content/images/large/GWWCBSIAA.jpgGood luck. Quote
techno Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I doubt you have fatter legs than my mate jimmylad, he bought some furygan ones! Quote
TC1474 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 If you can find them, try Prexport (imported by Fowlers of Bristol)My wife had the same issues, and they fitted her perfectly and she could wear them all day in total comfort. They were always a good quality budget boot, but I haven't seen them for a year or two, so you may need to shop around, but I am pretty certain they would meet your requirements, and they are a full length boot rather than a paddock boot. queen bodecia Posted August 25, 2009 Author Posted August 25, 2009 Thanks for all the suggestions people. Paddock boots not an option as I have long legs and there's a good chance my leather trousers wouldn't be long enough (plus I'd prefer to have the shin protection). Not keen on the idea of lace up boots either, but will check out Furygan, Prexport & Altberg.I did try on some Sidis but I couldn't do them up due to fat leg issue (I also didn't like them much, they were covered in plastic clips and looked more like ski boots!). TC1474 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I found the link for Prexporthttp://www.thekeycollection.co.uk/prexp ... index.htmlMy wife has the Lady City boot and they fit perfectly, but I appreciate that everyone is different. Quote

queen bodecia Posted August 25, 2009 Author Posted August 25, 2009 Phil, my current boots are Oxtar. They used to fit lovely, but not any more sadly, even with compression socks. Thanks for the Prexport link. Can't seem to find any stockists round here though. Quote

Guest Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I have a pair of these:http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/prod ... ts_id/5307They're extremely comfortable and have velcro adjusters to cope with different leg shapes - expensive, no doubt, but definitely my favourite piece of kit. Quote
