Guest Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Hey people.. Sorry for my lack of input since april/may time, after nearly contemplating quitting racing and some other stuff, i decied it would have been stupid as i was doing so well.. Im back here now, and after a telling off from Vicky, i promise to put more effort into contributing towards the forum, and helping out where i can!Well im gonna tell about the las race meeting.. EMRA round 5 - Mallory Park Leics. Afer having to pull out of the June Meeting due to lack of funds (having just come self employed) it had been nearly 2 months since id put my leg over the saddle of the Backmarker GSX-R 1000. We'd booked in for a test day on the 12'th just to blow some cobwebs away!Testing went well and wed managed to get in a couple of 58's but nothing that was heading towards the goal of 57's. Happy with a good test session, and being made to look like i was stood stil by a recovering Sylvain Guintolli, we got ready for sunday. We were blessed with sunshine all day so wed decided to use the Pirelli BSB slicks for the first 3 races of the day and save the NTEC's for qualifyingm Open 2 and the novice race. We qualified 18th out of 49, with a 58.8 so looking ok for the day and it gave us some mid pack grid positions. First race was the buildbase, with the pirellis. Having not used them before, i jusmped on the bike and struggled to get to grips with them, being smaller than the 195/65 profile NTEC's. FInishing good and getting back into a race again felt good.. The next 2 races were Open 1 and BUuildbase 2, were pretty much similar, finishing in good positions but still not getting on with the Pirelli BSB slicks, lets just hope i dont get offered a BSB ride anytime soon! For the final open race we'd put the NTEC's back on. Went out and instantly felt great. Started 14th on the grid and got a great start and was in 19th by the first corner. Spent the race in 10th untill the last lap where i made a great move at the hairpin to take 9th and the best result in the open race ever. A top 10 position is something we've been looking for all season! Happy times.. I came in absoloutly buzzing from an amazing race and i only had 10 minutes untill my race, the Novice race. Id got 3rd on the grid for this so looking for a great race. The start was amazing and i kept in3rd and held of everyone behing me.. Coming upto edwinas for the first time i took 2nd place and kept the throttle open. The first full lap put in a 58.4 which beat my previous PB of 58.5! I held onto 2nd and kept my head down with consitant low 58's and even getting down to 58.3! oN LAP 9/10 coming upto edwinas for the penultimate time, i got outbreaked and went into 3rd for the first time in the whole race. I managed to keep with him untill edwinas in the final lap, where i made a super outbreaking manouver at edwinas and took back my 2nd place.. Runing upto the hairpin i knew i had to keep a tight line.. Just as i turned in, 3rd place hit me in the side, and sent me up the hairpin and nearly onto the floor!! 4th place got the oppurtunity to take 2nd and i pinned the throttle back with the front wheel pointing skywards (180bhp does that) i got on the arse of 2nd and managed to keep 3rd position, just missing out on 2nd by 0.200 of a second! What a race!! Was a great day and some great results.. Time to look forward to the final round on 20th september! Thanks for reading!! See you all soon!! Quote
Guest Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Yea, my broken subframe says it was close! Some guy also did a Josh Brookes on me in race one.. outbraked himself coming into the hairpin and went down onto my left hand side and grabbed my left clip on!!! Took a detour towards the wall but stayed on!! Quote
