Evs7 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I'm going to go there, I have the tin opener and I have opened this can of worms. What are we all thinking about this situation?Firstly, I like the lad, I always support the British lads at the races as well as my favourite racers from other countries, but I always have and always will wish the British lads well. But at the same time I won't blindly support anyone.Toselands a nice lad, I've read his auto-biography and he's by no means had it easy, but I personally can't justify him keeping a seat in the Tech 3 team in 2010. At the same time there are a number of other riders (Vermeulen/Canepa/Capirossi) who I also couldn't justify keeping their rides in 2010.I reckon he could maybe move to the Pramac Ducati team and spend a third season in MotoGP, but on the Yamaha which is considered the best bike in the paddock. I'm afraid his results don't justify it.I know he scored a front row in Qatar in 2008 but it was a cold track and all the front runners were Michelin.I know he finished 6th yesterday, but Rossi and Pedrosa fell off, so it could have been 8th. I know he finished 9th in Brno but three riders in front that day fell off.It would make me so happy to see Toseland finish top 5 in the next few races and prove me wrong, but if not surely he won't be in MotoGP in 2010.What does everyone think? BTW GO JT in MISANO Quote
Revvin Kevin Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 He doesn't deserve a ride in MOTOGP IMO, there are better, younger riders that deserve a shot. Two years in MOTOGP and he's down in 13th Edwards is top privateer and whilst I expected more from him over the years, he deserves to stay more than Tose. Quote
techno Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I think he will be gone anyway too many wanting rides form 250's but dorna may want an englishman on the grid?? Quote
Revvin Kevin Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 It seemed from Sundays grid interviews that he would be staying with Tech3, only reason being that DORNA want a Brit in MOTOGP. Purely political and marketing reasons, nothing to do with ability. He's good, just not good enough. Quote
techno Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Or he has to take the final chance he's been given and actually do something with it!Before crutchlow arrives in the class Quote
yorbandit Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Well now can opener let us think this through i agree his results have not been as good as i hoped but talmascie spelling wrong i know was a top tip on a honda but is miles of the pace he has been in gp paddock for years 125.250 but he miles off so as much as i think jt will struggle to stay in gp i belive he has proved he deserves to be theredeserves means feck all though Quote
Guest akey Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 From the interviews on Sun it will depend on what Ben Spies is up to, if he moves up with yamaha then he will stay as they dont want 2 americans in the team, but if spies stays in WSB for another year he may get the boot for another rider, and then Spies will replace Edwards season after. My opinion remains, the only way to be at the top of the game in MotoGP is to come through the classes, you could sometimes get away with coming from superbikes (although its still rare) with the 990s but not now. bex Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 i think he deserves another your, whats it they say, third time lucky??? and so what if he only got 6th at the weekend cos two infront fell off, you dont win races on your arse so obviously on the day he was the better man cos he crossed the line n they didnt Quote
techno Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 well on that point bex, some podium finishers havent even got rides surely they should come first?fact remains there isnt enough seats on moto gp! Quote
awwwnuts Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Just because your on the podium doesn't mean you deserve a GP ride. Its funny how DeAngelis and Elias both can manage podiums when they are looking for a ride for next year. If I was ateam manager I would question if these guys are going to try. The one guy I would want is Randy De Puniet. Now that guy does try, but a tad expensive in carbon fibre As for Toseland I think he will stay. Edwards has good has confirmed there would not be room for 2 Americans in Tech 3, and Colin was looking to step down last year. yamaha are going to want to hold on to Spies, and a future Lorenzo/Spies team does look good.If JT does lose the ride I think he will be back at Ten Kate. They respect his development input there, and the performence they have had sinc JT left has been a bit poor. In fact JT and Vermulen back there would be a dam fine team. Quote

Netmeister Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I'm not sure if I want him in moto GP, it's sad to watch when he can never perform. I'd rather see him in WSB doing what he used to.Saying that I think he will stay next year because he's british, and it will be a total farce if JT stays and Edwards goes because it means moto gp isn't the true top flight of bike racing. Quote
nigelwood1 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Either that bike is the biggest pile of poo or he just can't ride it.This is year 2 so should be better not worse. Edwards is seriously out classing him.Unfortunately I don't think he has what it takes. Quote
Guest Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Let him go back to WSB, and get someone in from one of the lower MotoGP classes.I have nothing against him - but he's not performing on a bike that has put Edwards in 5th position in the championship. It may be because he's not suited to the bike, or he's having trouble giving good feedback to the engineers so that they can set it up correctly for him. Quote
techno Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Maybe he shouldn't have knocked Edwards chief mechanic!! Quote

bigsisterbiker Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 would like to see jt still in gp next year, but can't see it.even if he goes to another team, maybe with a bike that suits him better. and maybe one not quite so high profile as tech 3.and i agree it's embarassing watching him not performi reckon the new 600 class will be the one to watch next year anyway Quote
Netmeister Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 i reckon the new 600 class will be the one to watch next year anyway Especially with Crutchlow Quote
bigsisterbiker Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 there's so much talent out there that would do well on the 6's, it should be brilliant. Quote
Steve365 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 If it;s anything like the superstocks at Cadwell BSB at the weekend, they'll be top - best racing of the day by a long chalk Quote
