JoshTimmins Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 soo after the beetle drive, i wake up to go to work to find the coolant level is below minimum.. now i have been havein trouble with overheating so check this regulaly.I cant seem to find where it is going :/ i think that maybe there is a very slow leak somewhere, lettin in air? causing the bike to get a air lock? makin the bike overheat? maybe lolTis a gpz500s Joshx Quote
Guest Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 josh is this a follow on from your old post.. if so check the oil.. if its cloudy/milky, could be an internal leak.. and check the bottle for similar, oily residue.. otherwisei'd suggest that the coolant is just water and evaporating, needs to have antifreeze in with it..also if your antifreeze is green, DO NOT USE PINK or vica versa, the two are vastly different and react making jelly, NOT GOOD..you could do with checking the thermostat if everything else checks out ok..have you looked for leaks, squeeze that rubber hose on the right side, make sure it aint comming out of there, or any other hoses.. Colin the Bear Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 A failing cylinder head gasket may be allowing combustion pressure into the coolant system and blowing it out. Then when it's low it overheats or it interupts the flow of coolant causing overheating. You don't always get a water oil mix. White exhaust smoke will indicate water in the combustion chamber. My brain hurts Quote

JoshTimmins Posted September 9, 2009 Author Posted September 9, 2009 will do trouble is you cant just let antifreeze soak into the ground?? :/ how could i do this lolJoshx Quote
Guest Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 drain it first, dispose of correctlyand then run water through it.. it will be diluted enough..put a cat litter tray under the bike.. or something equally as suitable.. any liquid collected, (unless the cats been for a pee..) will be from the bike.. excluding rain.. JoshTimmins Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 all done seems to be okay think a flush is just what it needed..all the anti-freeze has been collectde and will be given to my stepdad who can dispose of it at work( no not on the sly, he works in drainage lol )Thanks for the help guys(simon)Joshx Quote
