bikerbaff Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 hi all.i was wondering once you've done your cbt and want to get your full bike liscence (at 17) how long does it take in general - mod1-mod2 if you pass first time?Rob Quote
Hywel Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Completely depends on how quickly you pick it up, instructor availability, test availability etc. My advice is to have a look around for some local motorcycle schools where you live, book a CBT with the school that seems to be the friendliest towards you when you call, then just go with the flow. Guest Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 It's been something like less then a month if I pass my MOD 1 on sunday and then to be booked in on a MOD2(I'm apparantly ready to pass already). With only 4 half day training sessions. 3 Weeks since my second CBT, since I f**ked my first. As the other poster said, depends on waiting time, but with a quick test, plenty of time and a good instructer, a month would be no problem to pass at all. Guest Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 It's taken me a little over 6 weeks from CBT to full license. I bought myself a 125 and spent a couple of weeks riding that before booking my DAS course, but was able to get a training slot at fairly short notice - I think it was theory tests that were in short supply, so if you're in a hurry, consider getting that out of the way first rather than waiting for the school to book you in. Hywel Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 consider getting that out of the way first rather than waiting for the school to book you in. .... Not sure if that image is supposed to be agreeing with you or calling you stupid. I agree with you anyway! Quote
lib Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 In theory, you could do your theory before your CBT, but assuming you haven't:day 1: CBTday 2: Theory, mod1 and mod2. You would have to be incredibly lucky to manage to get it all booked at the right time and find a location that you can get from the theory to the practical test centre in time. Realistically, you will want to make sure you have your theory in hand before you book mod1 and mod1 in hand before you book mod 2. The amount of time for this depends on the test centre and the times you can make. I can go in the week during business hours so I found it relatively easy to find a slot in about a week. The only way of telling how far ahead they are booking at the centre nearest you, is to ring them or use the on-line booking system. Realistically then:day 1: CBTday 2: theoryday 9: mod1day 16: mod2 Quote
houltmac Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I did my theory one Saturday a while back before I could get time off work. Then:Day 1: CBTDay 2: 125 practiceDay 3: 500 practiceDay 4: Mod 1Following week due to it being the first available slot: Mod 2 (without practice between) - Failed2 weeks to the day later: Mod 2 second attempt (hope to pass)I had never sat on a bike or scooter or driven a car before my CBT and had no time on any bike or scooter other than those days mentioned. Days 1, 4 and 5 were half days due to the tests being around lunchtime. Quote
lib Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Yeah - I was assuming that you were putting yourself through it, otherwise, if you are booking a course the school will pre-book tests for you. Quote
