  1. For the GS500E. I got it 6 months ago, Scruffier than Gaspode the Dog butran well. I had a problem with the indicators, they only worked on ignition switch or VERY LOW REV's! I was okay with it, hand signals used. Now the M.O.Y. is out so needed to fix them. Somebody that understands Electrickery had a look and gave me Much Teeth Sucking! A previous owner had been "Doing strange things" with the wiring! There is a lot that needs doing and as I have.. 1/. Zero BRANES regarding electrics, and 2/. Bugger all money to play with, I reckon it's going to be the bike to "Arse around with" for a few months. One of the things I'd like to do is a Vague custom set up, removing lots of non-essential bits Etc. I'd like to Slim down and simplify the electrics. Ideally I'd like No Battery, other than for starting the engine, it has no kick start on it.. Is this practical? If it is, can anybody advise me what I need to do this, in terms of parts, and can anybody give me ideas on where to look for guidelines to doing it? Thanks in advance.
  2. To be honest, Bus drivers are generally decent, I'll generally give them the Nod to pull out, turn, whatever. They daren't screw you up too badly, there's a number on the back to report if they do. Coach Drivers! I've called the Boss about a few of them, one actually got suspended until I agreed to Drop the complaint, they did give him an official warning though. Taxi drivers... 50/50 on them, again ID the badge number and they really will get the Shit from their council! Private Hire = 95% of them are Evil Twats! ~I've had a "Physical Altercation" with a few in Leeds, a Lot of them in Colchester, Cambridge and Luton! Here in (NOT THE YORKSHIRE!) Lancaster I've had words with a couple. Most of the professional drivers are working to a set of rules, timed jobs Etc. They know it's their livelihood and will put up with the odd Chavonabike. It's more trouble than it's worth Screwing someone on a bike when they have an easy to identify mark on their vehicle. In the spirit of the original post... I'm okay with Bikers, Trikers and Bicycle riders using the bus lane, as long as they give the Bus priority when needed.
  3. Same as me. Passed mine in January '79. It was legal then, I'm certain of that.
  4. RideWithStyles...... Divide all the different road users. Then get them Narked with each other group. Then they don't notice when the Government types kick them out. Then...Which shall we get ranty about next? and next? and then "Bloody Bikers! Always pulling in front at the lights, Noisy buggers holding all the cars up! Lets stop that and make 'em all ride 45mph Electric bikes... Like I say, "Divide and Conquer".
  5. Good on mate. Divide and Conquer Eh!
  6. This is where the Lycra quote was from. With regard to Brain Injuries... 15th April 1996. 1200 V4 Suzi' locked the bevel drive on an 'S' bend. Threw me down the road and into a Six Week Coma. Family were told I was unlikely to live more than a few hours. I did, obviously, live and moved 300 miles to be where my family could be my Carers, help me with my "Severe Traumatic Brain Injuries". I have personal experience of Plastic Hats! A cycle helmet is tested to be around 70% capable of protecting the head from a 7mph fall, onto a flat, no Jaggy Bits, surface. Since they were made compulsory in Australia there's been a 10 to 15% drop in journeys completed by bicycle. YMMV, but I'm sticking with a Good Helmet on a Motorbike and No Helmet on a pedal cycle.
  7. It looks like I'll be looking at the Carb's myself. I'm not going to start looking at it until I've got over some surgery, six weeks or so. I've never played with CV carb's before, brother did the "Suck his teeth" and "It's not a job I'd want to do" thing. Last time I worked on Carb's was in the 70's on old British bikes.
  8. I'm thinking about the old GSX 250E, 1984. As mentioned elsewhere, the left hand carb's not getting fuel to the engine. I do not have a clue with CV Carb's! Does anybody know where I would look for information about replacing with Slide Carb's, if it's even possible?
  9. I object M' Lud. Cycle helmets are more negative in that they reduce cycling. I'm a Fat Lardy 62 year old that wouldn't wear lycra for a Bet! Also, Why bring that up at all?
  10. I've got a 1984 Suzuki GS250E. Had it about 15 months and it was a nice little runner. Then there was an Electrics problem, I do not understand Electrics! Got it sorted and running. Then it wouldn't fire on the left cylinder! Told the Left hand carb' isn't putting petrol through. It's a CV Carb' and way beyond my level these days. Parked it up in the garage and sorned it. A couple of months back the SCUM broke in an stole 3 bikes. They cut the ignition switch on the GS250 and went off. I assume they couldn't get away fast enough with the carb' only giving a bang on 1 cylinder. Police saw them in a local park and they dropped the bike and ran! I got a call from the Police that it was found. About 500 yards from my flat! Wheeled it back and have done Bugger all with it. Not 100% standard but pretty close. Cosmetics are tidy, Recent rear shocks, if I had power to my garage I might play with it, but not happening. It'll be 40 years old later this year. I'm based in Lancaster. Any interest?
