So, I am currently 18 looking to get my A2 when I turn 19 in October 2024. At the moment, I have an A1 License which I have had since September 2023. Now the confusion is, since I don't want to wait 2 years to get my A2 after passing the A1, what do I need to do it when I turn 19?
Some places say I need a valid CBT (even with an A1) as well as a theory (I passed this in September 2023 also, I am unsure if it stays valid for 2 years regardless of passing a license on it in that time (the A1)).
The general confusion is overwhelming as I am not sure what I do and don't need to get it done. It doesn't make sense to me that I need a CBT, or indeed a theory, with what is technically a full license.
So, my overall questions are:
1. Does a theory test stay valid for 2 years regardless of passing a test in that time? I.e, can I pass an A1 and an A2 on the same certificate?
2. If I have a category A1 License for less than 2 years, do I need to have a valid CBT still in order to do the A2?
3. Are there any other hidden catches with doing an A2 a year after passing the A1?
Key Dates:
CBT Pass: September 2022.
A2 License Date (Aim): October 2024.
A1 Pass Date: September 2023.
Theory Pass Date (for A1): September 2023
Many thanks for responses in advance, this is too confusing due to the mixed responses.
(Going to do the A2 through a training school as I have never had the opportunity to ride a big bike on the road).
