AstronaugtNinja, a Bobber Scout, is an awesome bike but again is too big for me. I'm pleased for Indian Motorcycles is still around. I previously associated the name with lightweight trail bikes that looked rather good but tended to leak oil. Many years back. I hardly see a fraction of motorcycles on the road as I did in the 70s & 80s so it's surprising but welcome that the market for them is still strong. RideWithStyles, aside from it being a long-time ambition, I prefer a single cylinder for the low-down pull, lighter weight - and daft old me, I really like the sound of a big single.

Royal Enfield Classic?! Nice one jr71. Thanks, that'll go on my short list, but preferably fitted with a shorter exhaust. Astronautninja. Is that the RH1250S? Some machine! LOL, sadly not for me either. If only I was younger and had deeper pockets.

Thanks Bonie, 650's probably too big for me. Also I'd like a single that I can right myself without help (if the need unfortunately arises!). Plus won't be going for a brand new bike, a used one will fit my budget better. No trail bikes. Capt Sisko, thanks, the Triumph 400 single looks good.

Thanks for your welcomes Fiddlesticks, Bender, AstronaughtNinja and suggestion/s Simon (I think I'm going to like it here). I knew of the Royal Enfield, and that appeals, but feared the choice of thumpers to be limited these days. Pleasantly surprised.
  5. Hello everyone from a new member returning the motorcycling after a break of nearly 40 years. Excuse me for going straight in with a question. I have an old green paper licence that says it permits me to ride A classification bikes (I passed the motorcycle test in 1975). Is it still valid or do I need to take further test/s? Thanks, Dan.
  6. Hello everyone from a new member. I'm an oldie, retired. Biked in the 80s haven't had one since I switched to car. Passed RAC/ACU test in 1975. Took the test and got a full licence the same year. Did m/c courier work for a few years in London. Now getting the urge to go back to motorcycling. For me, nothing can beat a motorcycle for the sense of adventure, freedom and independence. Have had: CB125S, RD125, CB400N, CD185, but a big single road bike is what I've always wanted.
