  1. Cheers bud. The calipers ok it just needs a new disc. I did think about getting one when i put new pads in but just never did, bit silly of me really.
  2. It passed He did mention the rear brake and said its almost an advisery and i should get a new one for next time but i'm well happy its on the road. It rode well too, the brakes did take a few miles to bed the new pads in but were fine after that. Going to take it for a run the week end
  3. Cheers guys, its mot time tomorrow so i hope it passes, my only concern is the rear disc, i should have got a new one Will let you know how it goes.
  4. Now thats an idea, cheers bud
  5. Changed the screen today for a bubble screen The screen is for an f2 cbr so it needed cutting to fit. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000384_zpsa2473a38.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000385_zps5ffb99b0.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000386_zps35681e57.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000387_zpsf045b4d4.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000404_zps5a4834fd.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000408_zps580ef357.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP000405_zps0d041653.jpg AS you can see it does not fit as flush as the standard screen as it does not have the mould on the edge but its not to bad a fit http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000411_zps61d820f7.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000413_zpsf93f5b9e.jpg
  6. Any one with an er5 will know that fuel getting into the oil down the crankcase breather if carb problems arise is a common problem but i've solved mine First off, the breather comes out right under the air box, not much room to get a longer pipe on so i decide to undo the bolt in the middle and rotate the housing so i could put a longer pipe in between the carbs. There is a locating peg on the out side of the housing so you need to remove it to rotate it Before http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/Capture2-1_zps1da6d692.jpg after http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/Capture3-1_zpsc5d837cb.jpg I then put a longer pipe on inbetween the carbs to the top of the airbox where there is a convenient rubber bung. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/WP_000309_zpse6b027d7.jpg I then cut this bung to take my new pipe http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/WP_000310_zpsc4906eb6.jpg Then i put the airbox back on and after fitting the pipe this is the result http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/WP_000313_zpsf43e6929.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/WP_000319_zpseda1c4ee.jpg No more fuel in the oil problems I've also done away with the troublesome vacuum tap that has pri/reserve/on, and put a manual one on with off/on/reserve http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/WP_000324_zpsaf2c9bff.jpg
  7. Cheers bud, i plan to enjoy going for a run on her soon, going for the mot in the next 2 weeks as soon as i find time to go Cheer mate, i love getting old bikes into a good shape again, as you say the satisfaction of a job well done is great, looking forward to my first ride out on this one
  8. Thats handy too as i plan to fit mine behind the screen and leave it. As you and zod have said it would be handy if you needed proof in a accident or something.
  9. Cheers guys Yes it was, i cleaned it off at first just to see how bad it was and if the frame was scrap and this is how it cleaned up http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/27042012421.jpg .
  10. Thanks for that I like the idea that you can charge it and record at the same time, very handy.
  11. Cheers, i must say that don't look half bad
  12. Cheers both. As for the exhaust i did plan on welding in a new pipework but then managed to buy a complete standard system for £80 so bought that instead
  13. Any one else uploaded any videos form their cam please? I've been looking at getting one but unsure what one to get at the minute, i have been looking at this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180973220235? ... 1423.l2649
  14. Hi all. I bought a 1989 cbr 600 for £200 as it needs some love to get it working. its complete and the paint works not to bad, the plastics need some work in places but i guess that to be expected. It had been parked up outside for 5/6 years. This is how it looked when i bought it ( sorry its not a great shot, its the only one i have) http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000015_zpsac87e5f3.jpg I'd taken the plastics off as i planed to get it running today only i've noticed a small problem with the exhaust, its rusted away a little were the 4-2-1 bit is http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000030_zpsa9c83a74.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000031_zps0a85d0b9.jpg I wanted to make sure the brakes were in good shape so i removed them from the bike to take a look but I must say they were in surprisingly good shape considering its been left parked outside for so long http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000040640x480_zps9593c73f.jpg The carbs are not to bad either, i dont know if the guy drained them first or anything but they were dry inside and did not take to much cleaning http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000059_zpsd37418cb.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000057_zpsc36650be.jpg It came time to paint the wheels. I have a rear paddock stand so taking the rear wheel off was easy. Then i thought "how am i going to get the front off, then i had an idea, i have an engine crane lol. I used it to hold the bike while i got the wheel off then i lowered the front onto a block of wood as i did not want it hanging on the crane http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/1_zps1eaf4a14.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/2_zpsc1582ab9.jpg The back wheel painted and lacquered, The disc needs painting up too but i did not have any black paint at the time so i just put it back on to see how it looked. I'm quite pleased how it came out in the end. This is how it looked just before Christmas. I'd got it out of the garage, first time it had seen daylight since i had it lol. Just need to sort the small damage to the faring. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000146.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000147.jpg And finally this is how it looks now I still need to paint the end can but i put all the plastics back, their not perfect but i thought its cleaned up quite well for an old girl http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000257_zps7e75746c.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000253_zpsae1fb98d.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/cbr600/WP_000251_zps35eabb34.jpg
  15. This is how it looks now, and is now my motor for commuting for work and it has been a very reliable motor so far too http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/ac1c92eb.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/b7a6b405.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/dd3e2f4a.jpg
  16. Hi Heres a few pictures of my sorry looking er5, it needed some major work to get it on the road and looking tidy again but it i was given me as a project and it got me back into the biking world It had not been run by the last owner since 2009 and was a non runner Its my son sitting on the bike, this was when i first brought it home http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/bike2.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/bike1.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/P1010007.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/P1010008.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/P1010004.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/P1010003.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/P1010002.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/ER500/P1010001.jpg
