At the end of the bridge there's a Shell Petrol Station on your right and Tesco will be on your left hand side. Middle lane for straight on at island, Get in left hand lane, Left at next island, straight through Traffic Lights, straight on at next island (Toyota Garage on right hand side) and Over the bridge , straight Over next island (if you look left you will see MFI, Tool Hire Shop & Wickes), At next island bear Right (3rd exit), Follow this road untill the next island The New Inn will be on your Left, turn Left at the island to gain entry to the car park. HEADING FROM A50 Turn on to A515 Lichfield at Sudbury island Follow this road until you start going up a steep(ish) hill. There will be a small post office on your left hand side as you start the hill climb. At the top of hill (once you're on the flat again) there is a speed camera on the left. Shortly after the camera you need take the 2nd left turn (6 Lane Ends). Beware. This is a funny junction. Make sure you take the 2nd left. Follow this road until you come to the island with a JET petrol station on your right. The New Inn is directly in front of you on the opposite side of the island - you can't miss it! HEADING FROM B'HAM/LICHFIELD/TAMWORTH A38 North take Barton Under Needwood junction - B5016. Go through Barton Under Needwood until you reach the 50 limit. Keep going for a few hundred yards or so. Shortly after this you will see a right turn (Forest Road) at the top of a slight hill with a left hand bend (In front of the Barton Gate/Top Bell pub - sea food resturant on the corner). Turn right here. At the end of this road is The New Inn just before the island. Hope that makes sense. RTTW Udate #1 from Martin Dickinson RTTW Organiser First I must thank you for participating in this event, the first of its kind in the UK. The response has been greater than I could have imagined. At the moment we are looking at approx 800 bikes making the ride from Tamworth to the Arboretum. I wouldn’t even like to second guess the numbers if the weather is fine. When I first proposed this event I was hoping that we would be able to get 200 bikes involved from the HOG UK Chapters, and unite our Club as one. This number was far exceeded very quickly and I took the decision, after consultation to open the event up to all motorcyclists. Through the hard work and support of a dedicated but small team of HOG UK members we have manage to create an event which is receiving coverage and support from across the UK and as I understand it, Europe and the US. Although we will never reach the size of the US event, it has been moving reading mails from people that no longer ride through injury, or wish they could ride but are unable to for various reasons. These people made sacrifices so that we are able to ride today in a free world. Some of these people will be at the service at the Arboretum just to take in the atmosphere and pay their respects to fallen colleagues. Although they do not ride I am sure we will welcome them with open arms. As with every ‘first’ you like to think you have covered all the bases. The team have put in an awful lot of effort to make this event run as smooth as possible, but with the numbers attending there may be some logistic issues. All I ask is that you bear with us, and enter into the spirit the event is trying to create. You will also receive a handout on the day when collecting your pin with the timetable of events, route to the Arboretum and any other important information. Once again thank you all for your attendance and support and hopefully we will be here again next year, bigger and better. Although I cannot thank you all personally I will do my best on the day to get round to as many of you as possible. Martin Dickinson RTTW Organiser

    RUN TO THE WALL 08

Someone asked me why............. different question same answer.... PLEASE WEAR A POPPY" Please wear a poppy," the lady said And held one forth, but I shook my head. Then I stopped and watched as she offered them there, And her face was old and lined with care; But beneath the scars the years had made There remained a smile that refused to fade. A boy came whistling down the street, Bouncing along on care-free feet. His smile was full of joy and fun, "Lady," said he, "may I have one?" When she'd pinned it on he turned to say, "Why do we wear a poppy today?" The lady smiled in her wistful way And answered, "This is Remembrance Day, And the poppy there is the symbol for The gallant men who died in war. And because they did, you and I are free - That's why we wear a poppy, you see." "I had a boy about your size, With golden hair and big blue eyes. He loved to play and jump and shout, Free as a bird he would race about. As the years went by he learned and grew and became a man - as you will, too." "He was fine and strong, with a boyish smile, But he'd seemed with us such a little while When war broke out and he went away. I still remember his face that day When he smiled at me and said, Goodbye, I'll be back soon, Mom, so please don't cry." "But the war went on and he had to stay, And all I could do was wait and pray. His letters told of the awful fight, (I can see it still in my dreams at night), With the tanks and guns and cruel barbed wire, And the mines and bullets, the bombs and fire." "Till at last, at last, the war was won - And that's why we wear a poppy son." The small boy turned as if to go, Then said, "Thanks, lady, I'm glad to know. That sure did sound like an awful fight, But your son - did he come back all right?" A tear rolled down each faded check; She shook her head, but didn't speak. I slunk away in a sort of shame, And if you were me you'd have done the same; For our thanks, in giving, if oft delayed, Thought our freedom was bought - and thousands paid! And so when we see a poppy worn, Let us reflect on the burden borne, By those who gave their very all When asked to answer their country's call That we at home in peace might live. Then wear a poppy! Remember - and give! by Don Crawford SEE YOU AT THE WALL.....got my ticket today..........
