Sunday 16th March 2008 Following the Egg run and the Xmas toy run in 2007 to Birmingham Acorns Childrens Hospice, Selly Oak. WMR have organized another Bike run. This one will be in memory of Dodgy, a popular WMR member who sadly was killed a few weeks ago.... This year however the hospice want ‘threads not Eggs’. They are collecting children`s clothes aged from 0 – 16 years. The run will start from Wellesbourne airfield café at 9.45 AM, ride via Stratford Bike park and leave at 10.15 AM. Then it`s off to Studley, Redditch then to the Hospice. Everyone welcome So if your free please pencil this one in folks..............would appreciate a hands up thingy who so numbers can be estimated Ride Safe MRM

Ride out for this 2008 is the West Midlands MAG ‘FRED HILL’ Memorial Run to the national Motorcycle Museum. Meeting Converging at the Museum for 1pm. Sunday 10th February 2008 Various Runs coming from Midday start from the Bewell Head Working Mans Club, 44 Bewell Head, B61 8HY off Broard Street (which comes off the Stourbridge Road~ B4091 just where the Hundred House Pub is) Bromsgrove. Group rides from the Park Inn (Black Country MAG) @ 11:00am to Bewell Head. The Unwanted MCC are organisation a run from the Beech Hotel, Burton on Trent at approx 12:00noon & the BOF MCC a run from Tesco/Notcutts car park J4 / M42 at 12:00noon for a ride to the museum. 1066-MCC will be meeting at the Rose & Crown @ 11:00am to join the run with the BOF at Tesco’s. Everyone welcome INFO from MAG UK and Affiliated Club Events List Fred Hill Runs 2008 - A Question of Choice The example set by Fred Hill in defying the compulsory helmet law throughout the nineteen seventies and eighties was extraordinary. Nowhere in the world has anyone made such exceptional sacrifices in the name of bikers' freedoms. A former army dispatch rider fighting for freedom in WW2, Fred was incensed by the compulsory helmet law. He rode everywhere in an old beret, collecting hundreds of tickets. Fred's refusal to pay the fines for helmet-less riding led to 31 jail sentences. Once in the dock of a magistrate's court where a lady magistrate berated his lawlessness, Fred took the opportunity to remind her that if it hadn't been for women breaking the law some years ago, she wouldn't be sitting where she was. Fred was seventy four years old when, in 1984, half way through a barbaric 60 day sentence, he died from a heart attack in London's gruesome Pentonville Prison. Whether the helmet issue is important to you or not, we all owe it, not only to Fred but to ourselves, to sustain a ceaseless call for the reform of this outrageous legislation MAG is not and never has been anti-helmet. We just think it is wrong to criminalize people who wish to exercise choice over what they ride and what they wear. The helmet law made naff all difference to fatality rates, it's a complete red herring. In a country where violent yobs walk free from courts, laughing at the law, is it right or proportionate to criminalize and imprison those who just want to have choice over what they wear? Be it Day-Glo, be it body armour, be it a helmet. It's all about the same thing - choice.

SUNDAY EVENINGS 5.00 PM(ish) onwards IS BIKE NIGHT USUALLY KICKS OFF around APRIL http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8742/newinndirectionsmap6hs4ar.gif HEADING FROM M42 follow A444 towards Burton On Trent follow this road straight on at Cadley Hill Island keep on A444, Past Woodland Cars (on left hand side) keep going, past St Peter's Garage (on right hand side) straight on at island, Over bridge (river Trent). At the end of the bridge there's a Shell Petrol Station on your right and Tesco will be on your left hand side. Middle lane for straight on at island, Get in left hand lane, Left at next island, straight through Traffic Lights, straight on at next island (Toyota Garage on right hand side) and Over the bridge , straight Over next island (if you look left you will see MFI, Tool Hire Shop & Wickes), At next island bear Right (3rd exit), Follow this road untill the next island The New Inn will be on your Left, turn Left at the island to gain entry to the car park. HEADING FROM A50 Turn on to A515 Lichfield at Sudbury island Follow this road until you start going up a steep(ish) hill. There will be a small post office on your left hand side as you start the hill climb. At the top of hill (once you're on the flat again) there is a speed camera on the left. Shortly after the camera you need take the 2nd left turn (6 Lane Ends). Beware. This is a funny junction. Make sure you take the 2nd left. Follow this road until you come to the island with a JET petrol station on your right. The New Inn is directly in front of you on the opposite side of the island - you can't miss it! HEADING FROM B'HAM/LICHFIELD/TAMWORTH A38 North take Barton Under Needwood junction - B5016. Go through Barton Under Needwood until you reach the 50 limit. Keep going for a few hundred yards or so. Shortly after this you will see a right turn (Forest Road) at the top of a slight hill with a left hand bend (In front of the Barton Gate/Top Bell pub - sea food resturant on the corner). Look forward ...START 90% R&C J3.....Usually SUNDAYS, it is time that varies..

Our 1st ride out for 2008 will be this Sunday 6th Jan. Good news is that its raining, right now, which will wash away all that salt that ruins the alloy & paint work on your bike…..Even better it looks as though it will be dry on Sunday!!!! So if your up for it my club 1066mcc will be having a run out across to Daventry via Warwick, then taking the A361 to Banbury (cracking bike run so I’ve been told) then back towards Stratford Upon Avon, eventually returning to the Rose & Crown We will be meeting at the Rose & Crown, A435, Portway, J3, M42 @ 11:00am. The ride out will be run at a steady pace to suit all styles of bike and rider abilities. All welcome Please fuel up before arrival.
