I am thinking of changing the heqdlight on my bike. I have seen bikes with different headlights fitted than stock ones. My question is, would it be worth it. My bike does not have the fork mounts for headlights, but a seperate mount. Would I have to get some fork fitting mounts. I am not sure which type of light to get, ie rectangle or more modern looking one. Thanks http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/Hondapinstriping006_zpsd503ef6d.jpg

Honda Cbn100N Update

The bike is rebuilt and now silver. http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/Hondapinstriping001_zpsa46629e0.jpg http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/Hondapinstriping005_zps1a5f8bbe.jpg http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/polishedenginecovers001_zpse06000c8.jpg http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/bikebuiltandrunning002_zpsf816a187.jpg http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/bikebuiltandrunning001_zps8019b5e6.jpg -
Hi, Can anyone shed some light on a problem I have with my Honda CB100N please. I had all indicators working but the fronts were very dim. I have checked continuity of all wires with the switch in the correct position for each side and all seems good. The fronts have stopped working when I put them on. Continuity of earth is good. The bulbs do not and have not blown. I have removed all wire joints and reconnected to make sure they are not pouled up. All contacts seem to be clean. Front indicators only show 3.4v (with bulb removed and multimeter on + & -) and the battery has a full 6.4v charge. Any ideas as to why there would be a drop in the power to front indicators only. All other electrics work, like warning, neutral and ignition lights and the bike starts up as power is going to the condensor. The indicators still not working when engine is running either. The bulbs do not blow as no shorting in the wires, but there does seem to be continuity with power and earth in a front indicator (when bulb was very dim) when I tried with no power to the indicator and ind switch in off position. Changing indicator switch does not alter anything either. Thanks in advance.

Oil seal now fitted and oil leak stopped. -
My bike just needs the new exhaust and painting. It has gone from this http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/HondaCB100Nathome001_zps3d8b5b2f.jpg to this. http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/Bikealmostcomplete003_zps79e6f111.jpg http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx46/ianallen2/Honda%20CB100N%20x2/Bikealmostcomplete002_zps09454cd2.jpg I am going to spray it metalic silver. Silver is on the logbook and I think it is a waste of time just sending a logbook off just to change the colour.

After splitting the spare engine,, it turns out that it is better than the engine on the bike. The piston and barrel are both a bit larger than the original and also looking new, the bottom end is just as good. I have only used the head and cam from the original engine as they are in better condition than the one on the spare engine. The spare engine has only done 22k miles. I have painted the spokes on the front wheel and will be painting the rear wheel today. I have still got the lights to sort out. The front indicators have stopped working as not a lot of power is going to them and the white wire from the headlight bulb holder has come away from the back of the holder. I might just buy a whole light unit as they are complete with wires. I am expecting the seat cover to arrive today. I have the seat base to paint then I can fit it. The engine runs sweet. I have had it running and it starts good. There is one oil leal from the camshaft oil seal. I have ordered one as I cant get one from local motorcycle shops. I should get it by Friday. I will get some more pics up when I have the bike put together. I am going to paint the tank and panels. The silver tank was dropped and I have found out it is full of filler. I will fill the dents in the brown tank and spray it. I have not made up my mind what colour, but I am thinking black at the moment. -

Snap. My first ever bike. Cant count a moped. I have stripped the engine and found the barrel scored and te piston was badly scored on the sides. The gudgeon pin was seized. Good job i ah the other engine for spares. I took the head off it and the barrel. The piston and barrel are both in very good condition. The cam has a bit of surface rust on from not being used, but the bottom half is all good. I have cleaned the engine inside and made sure there is no bits. The mesh filter was a bit clogged up so I cleaned it with petrol. Came up like new. I just have to wait for a gasket set now so I can rebuild the engine and then see if it will run. I will have to adjust the tappets as I am using the cam from the original engine. -

The bike is in bits now. last night, I took the tank and seat off and removed the engine. When I started it, I thought there was a bit of smoke arount the head. My mate asked if the plug was loose, but I had tightened it. We fount the head gasket was leaking a bit. I am going to strip the engine, check it and rebuild it. The engine has new gaskets on so it looks like it has had work done on it before and we suspect the head has not been torqued down. It is half stripped and I am going to change the front forks, so I may as well strip it completely. It will be like a total restoration job. -

Thanks for the tip. The steering stops are good. The tank was off the spare one that was put on for the mot as there was not a petrol flap lock on the silver tank. When I have the silver tank painted or powder coated (not made my mind up yet) it will be going on the runner as there are no dents in it. I am going to paint the spokes on the wheels that are on the runner. They will be black and the rims will stay alloy . Should look a lot better. The wire wheels are quite rusty and would benefit from a re-chrome. But as I have not got a big budget, I will stay with the wheels that are on. I have the spare engine and I am thinkijg of polishing the covers for the clutch etc. and paint the engine matt black. I need an exhaust for it as the one on it and the spare are both not much good. I may as well save up and get a new one. I still dont know whethere to strip it totally and have the frame sand blasted and powder coated. It would look a lot better. -

Hi, I collected my bike and rolling chassis today and I am very pleased with them. I will be making one good bike out of the two. The main bike is a 1978 (T reg) bike with 10 months mot and 10 months road tax. It has been stood out in all weathers since it passed the mot. It needs a seat cover and the other exhaust putting on, but it starts well and just need a general clean up. A lot of grime in places. I will have the tank and panels sprayed, but I dont know what colour yet. I keep looking on the net for ideas. http://s740.photobucket.com/user/ianall ... 4.jpg.html Breather pipe from gearbox missing, but I have some somewhere.
