Hey guys, hope everyone is well. So something my moped seems to have developed is a shuddering while I'm leaning right. It's not horrific but when cornering anything faster than 25 it rather off putting. Anyone have any ideas what it could be, would seriously help me out

Yep. Definitely the choke. I'll have to order a new one, but for the time being covering the air intake seems to prime it enough that it starts happily enough. And it's a simple fix for the time being. Thanks

It did, thanks. Now I've probably just broke something, but once againbit will not start. I have double triple and quadruple checked everything I can think of. Spark, fuel, air, I believe the autochoke is working (assuming I tested correctly) etc. I'm officially at a loss. I've spent my morning trying to get her running again. It's not starting with either start method. Any ideas? Thanks for your continued support

Just water, a scrubbing brush and a bit of carb cleaner on the stubborn parts. It does smell like oil. I'm going to put the fairings all back on then let it run for a while, see if I can clear it out

Hi guys. Bit of an update and a further question. After changing most gaskets, reassembling everything and rewiring the choke, I've got it running! So I'd like to say thank you to everyone who helped. However, at first start and for about 5-6 minutes of idling it pours smoke from the exhaust, thick and white. Could this just be the oil in the exhaust burning off? Thank you

I did try that, yes. Looks like I'm low on compression =\ Time to find me a cereal box! (And pray it'll hold until I can get real gaskets)

Ok, so I have reassembled the bike. Getting spark, fuel, oil and air. Not sure about compression yet, so is there any way I can check the compression without a tester tool? I can get one if not but I'm not exactly a rich man. Also, any other ideas it could be if not? Thanks for all of your help

I have an aprilia sr50. In an effort to get it running I stripped it down and when I came to remove the exhaust, I got covered in oil. The exhaust must have been atleast 1/2 full for the amount the amount that poured out. So I was wondering if anyone could shed some light as to why this has happened and how I'd go about fixing/making sure it doesn't happen again. I promise I'll stop asking questions once it's fixed =P Thanks guys

The exhaust was LITERALLY full of oil. I look like the mud monster now xD Gonna have a good clean and reassembled then hope for the best! Thanks for the help, guys

So I got myself a can of carb cleaner. Took it off the bike etc. But the eejit before me has rounded off the screws on the bowl bit at the bottom (waiting on a friend dropping off a dremmel) I'm about to look at the exhaust, but I don't know how I'd tell if the exhaust is blocked or not

its a 2 stroke so no valves to stick open............well as far as i know its 2 stroke Ah, didn't realise it was a two-stroke! Another dumb move. lol Apparantly, it is direct injection also so won't have carb either! Am I right? Nope, they made an injection model as well as a carb model. I have the carb'd one. Hi everyone. New to the forum and relatively new to 2 wheels, and really enjoying it! I have an Aprilia SR 50 moped which a friend had sat in his garage for a while. After replacing parts ( HT coil and lead. spark plug, draining fuel and oil and refilling) I come to start it up. The battery is fully charged and turning the engine over with ease for about 2 cycles, at which point it seems to create too much pressure and not continue turning. I have removed the spark plug and the engine will turn over smoothly (both kick and electric) with no abnormal sounds. however, the oil and fuel mixture seems to be spurting out the top. I have checked the spark plug and ht lead, both work perfectly. I hope I've supplied enough information, if not just ask for more details and what you'd like to know about and I will do my best. I appreciate ANY help anyone can give me! Thanks guys
