  1. Thanks for that six30, looks good. Looking at the Germany tour I found rather good deal with this operator.. http://www.motorcycle-sport-touring.com ... tours.html
  2. Wonder why often with MTO they have a large group of riders. It seems that it's not a rocket science to get yourself a decent holiday on a bike and organize it yourself. I've always done it that way but wanted to go with MTO once for a change. Friend of mine did that last year and was somehow disappointed. I don't want to mention the tour operator here but basically the group was so large (over 35 bikes) that it was really a self-guided tour for him.
  3. Thanks, but thanks! 400 miles in a day is for me is way too much (maybe I'm getting old-er ) I have done it before, including the black forest, but I'd do something easier in terms of daily millages. 2 - 3 hours on motorways from Rotterdam ferry and I could be in a spectacular area of Germany, somewhere like Cochem-Zell would be ideal. Anyone up for it?
  4. I am definitely going this year and yes I've been on a few tours in UK and Europe, never with a tour operator though and this year I feel like lazy and maybe let someone else organize it. Thinking of Germany for a week or so but not the black forest, just too far, to much riding on motorways.
  5. Wonder if many of you guys are into touring, i.e. on the continent. Would you do it yourself or go with a motorcycle tour operator? Have you had any experience with MTO?
  6. Thanks for your thoughts though I think ageing of the Polystyrene foam is a myth as the material is not degradable, well ok, very slow biodegradable. I can see a bit of logic in those little impacts you expose your helmet every day and the glue issue here might come to play, you never know what's being used. In terms of UV, other than graphics damage it doesn't sound convincing (integrity wise) unless your lid heats up to 100C. Don't get me wrong guys, I'm not that tight but after 5 years (almost 6) for now I feel my lid is in a good shape, it's been well looked after..
  7. Hi all, Since everyone seems to be convinced that you've got to change/upgrade/dispose a helmet that you've been using for over 5 years, I wonder if any of you actually know why. I cannot find any specific and convincing information on why do we need to do that. Just a thought really. I have been riding with my Arai Viper for over 5 years now and I'm thinking of something probably cheaper but claimed to be up to to the most demanding tests (by SHARP) by the way but having looked at the flimsy construction I'd rather stay where I am and so don't really feel the need of changing it. The only need seems to be driven by the helmet manufactures, you may guess why. But back to the point.. Can anyone tell me why is this, in my opinion, stupid idea of changing your helmet after 5 years or so...does it disintegrate? really?
