  1. Passed last Saturday morning at Shieldhall in Glasgow. The examiner followed me in a car and quite often we had other cars between us. His problem I thought, so I paid no more attention to him other than treating him like a sat nav. Convinced i'd failed at one point as i never saw the "20s plenty" signs on the way into an estate (where I live they get repeated every so often, but not in the test area). Only noticed them on the way out. I hadn't been doing anywhere near 30 tho as there were loads of double parked cars and kids running about. Pretty sure hitting someone is a fail. Anyway, after that he asked me to pull over a couple of times, then had me move off. No problems. Then he asked me to pull in 3 more times, twice where there was no room because of bus stops, driveways and parked cars, and once where there wasn't enough room between the last parked car and the T junction at the end of the road. I ignored him all 3 times and just kept riding on. The 3rd one at the junction was a downright stupid request. He actually apologised for that one as "There's not usually so many parked cars at the top of the hill there" Like I said, he was in a car. The rest of the test went fine, even tho I didn't know the area, been through it 3 times I think. Back at the test center there was a learner in a car stopped right in the entrance. Here's where I picked up my 2 minors. I dithered like an idiot when I should have just made a decision and went round them into the car park. I dithered that long that I forgot to lifesaver when turning right in behind the car and then hesistated too long wondering if I was going to get taken out as I went past them. Passed. 2 minors. Better result than I would have given myself or if it was someone on a bike following me i think. Maybe something for folk to think about if they're being followed by an examiner in a car. They will NOT be able to see as much as you do, even if there isn't any triffic in between.
  2. Yeah, I think I'll wait before any soldering gets done. 4 wires, 2 for the heater and 2 for the reading. According to another site a resistor across the 2 sensor wires should make it think it's ok. I'll do it after the test tho £200 for a replacement
  3. Not me mate. Mines black. Parked in town center (until Friday).
  4. No safety issue at all as far as I can make out. The heater element is only there to get the sensor up to it's best working temperature right after the bike is started. As soon as it's warmed up there isn't any need for a heater element. I was just wondering if seeing an FI light would mak them cancel the test. That tape idea is in reserve Rennie the light is bloody annoying, and knowing honda I bet a replacement sensor is bloody expensive. I need to start commuting to edinburgh from glasgow from monday, so I really need to pass this mod 2.
  5. I've got a fault showing on the FI indicator that means the front oxygen sensor isn't heating. The haynes manual says it won't interfere with the running of the bike or damage the engine, but would you be allowed out on the road for a mod 2 if the examiner saw the FI light??
  6. I was having a problem booking my mod 2. Tried using IE instead of Firefox and it went through fine instead of hanging.
  7. Passed it that time. Can't get a mod 2 date until 2 days after my CBT runs out. outfuckingstanding.
  8. yeah. rebooked for start of November. typical noob mistake braking that hard in the wet. just above freezing too.
  9. Locked the back up on the emergency stop, everything else was fine. Baws.
  10. I had a rattle for about 20-30 miles on my Vara when I bought it. I thought it was the starter motor not retracting properly, that where I thought the noise was coming from. The bike had been sitting unused for 2 months when I bought it so I just figured it was because it hadn't been used for a while. I would really only hear it on idling, and it would disappear after revving to over 2/2.5k. Worried about it until it disappeared by itself and it's never returned.
  11. I was planning to. That was before I ended up in hospital with pneumonia Not even gonna be at work for another couple of weeks.
  12. Yeah that bit of the road has been 'upgraded' to motorway status, for some strange reason. Bet it doesnt have more than 2 lanes though? As long as it has 2 lanes and a hard shoulder it can be classed as a motorway.
  13. Idiot light kicks in when 2.7 litres are still in the tank. Can't you use that. as for engine power displays it might flash up "no very much" I've got a link for the service manual on the works computer somewhere. I'll have a look and see if I can find it when I'm back in the office.
  14. I remember my uncle using one of them when I was a kid. He had a Kawasaki KH100 and the battery was always goin flat. This was in 1978 right enough I was 5
