Module 2 - members test experiences
Ashaman Jay replied to a topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Passed last Saturday morning at Shieldhall in Glasgow. The examiner followed me in a car and quite often we had other cars between us. His problem I thought, so I paid no more attention to him other than treating him like a sat nav. Convinced i'd failed at one point as i never saw the "20s plenty" signs on the way into an estate (where I live they get repeated every so often, but not in the test area). Only noticed them on the way out. I hadn't been doing anywhere near 30 tho as there were loads of double parked cars and kids running about. Pretty sure hitting someone is a fail. Anyway, after that he asked me to pull over a couple of times, then had me move off. No problems. Then he asked me to pull in 3 more times, twice where there was no room because of bus stops, driveways and parked cars, and once where there wasn't enough room between the last parked car and the T junction at the end of the road. I ignored him all 3 times and just kept riding on. The 3rd one at the junction was a downright stupid request. He actually apologised for that one as "There's not usually so many parked cars at the top of the hill there" Like I said, he was in a car. The rest of the test went fine, even tho I didn't know the area, been through it 3 times I think. Back at the test center there was a learner in a car stopped right in the entrance. Here's where I picked up my 2 minors. I dithered like an idiot when I should have just made a decision and went round them into the car park. I dithered that long that I forgot to lifesaver when turning right in behind the car and then hesistated too long wondering if I was going to get taken out as I went past them. Passed. 2 minors. Better result than I would have given myself or if it was someone on a bike following me i think. Maybe something for folk to think about if they're being followed by an examiner in a car. They will NOT be able to see as much as you do, even if there isn't any triffic in between. -

Yeah, I think I'll wait before any soldering gets done. 4 wires, 2 for the heater and 2 for the reading. According to another site a resistor across the 2 sensor wires should make it think it's ok. I'll do it after the test tho £200 for a replacement -

No safety issue at all as far as I can make out. The heater element is only there to get the sensor up to it's best working temperature right after the bike is started. As soon as it's warmed up there isn't any need for a heater element. I was just wondering if seeing an FI light would mak them cancel the test. That tape idea is in reserve Rennie the light is bloody annoying, and knowing honda I bet a replacement sensor is bloody expensive. I need to start commuting to edinburgh from glasgow from monday, so I really need to pass this mod 2. -

I had a rattle for about 20-30 miles on my Vara when I bought it. I thought it was the starter motor not retracting properly, that where I thought the noise was coming from. The bike had been sitting unused for 2 months when I bought it so I just figured it was because it hadn't been used for a while. I would really only hear it on idling, and it would disappear after revving to over 2/2.5k. Worried about it until it disappeared by itself and it's never returned.

I was planning to. That was before I ended up in hospital with pneumonia Not even gonna be at work for another couple of weeks.
-
Yeah that bit of the road has been 'upgraded' to motorway status, for some strange reason. Bet it doesnt have more than 2 lanes though? As long as it has 2 lanes and a hard shoulder it can be classed as a motorway.

Idiot light kicks in when 2.7 litres are still in the tank. Can't you use that. as for engine power displays it might flash up "no very much" I've got a link for the service manual on the works computer somewhere. I'll have a look and see if I can find it when I'm back in the office.

I remember my uncle using one of them when I was a kid. He had a Kawasaki KH100 and the battery was always goin flat. This was in 1978 right enough I was 5

The battery on my bike was dying when I got it. It was on the Optimiser at the back door constantly. My last journey home from work I had to bump start it. It hit -14C one night during the holidays and the cold totally killed it. Went from showing green to red and wouldn't charge. Replaced the battery and checked the voltage on the old one with a multimeter. 2.2V Wouldn't even be enough to run my nephews toy car

That musta been a pain. Hand tight, then 1/2 to 2/3 of a turn I was told. Well that's what I done anyway.

Problem with: oxford hot grips flashing blue 30% light
Ashaman Jay replied to splang's topic in Pitstop
My dero wouldn't go above 12.3v (ignition off) for ages cos the guy I bought it off garaged it for 2 months without taking care of the battery. When I went out on it the oxford grips worked fine, even with a low battery. Bought an optimiser and the battery recovered eventually, but it took fookin ages. Thought a cell was dead and was very surprised to see a green light one morning. -
Bloody ell Did they all run over you or did some miss?

http://zsf-motorrad.de/images/categories/skizzen/13KPC1S1/IMGE/F__1901.gif No way of connecting the slip on can if I cut the end off the standard one The diagram above is accurate and the pipe expands the way it's shown. Think I've found one here http://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=552394&bike=HONDA+XL125+V+Varadero+01- Its for a remus can, but the dimensions are the same 54/55mm inlet bore as the Devil can I'm lookin at. Gonna give em a call. See what they say.
-
Its only the slip on can that's available for the wee Dero. Dunno why there's no link pipe option.
-
Looking at a slip-on Devil can for my Varadero. Thing is, I know I'm gonna need a link pipe and have no idea where to find one. Anyone any info on where I might find a supplier or even a company that can make them? I wish Honda had just used a straight pipe instead of that cone http://zsf-motorrad.de/images/categories/skizzen/13KPC1S1/IMGE/F__1901.gif

Had it a couple of time on my marauder but only when it dropped below 0 degC. No issues on my Varadero so far. Mines not carbed tho.

Commute to work, so I'm on the bike whatever the weather. Had to knock the snow off myself a few times last winter as I looked like the stig with it all stuck to me. I hate the way snow turns to ice when it gets forced into the vents in your lid. Instant fog.
