    Differances

was just looking for parts for my Honda Vfr 400 nc24, when i started thinking about differences in models. With my old Kawasaki GPZ 750 I could also buy most parts from a gpz 900 as nearly everything was the same apart from the cylinder sizes (according to a garage). Is this the case for the other nc models, I need a key ignition, petrol cap and fuse box to start. I know all the ignitions are different pins, but are things like petrol fillers standard and we are just conned in to buying a specific ones for the bikes.
  3. Ford puma, the sensible sporty car. Really like the look of these, what they like to drive. and get parts for these day as they stopped making around 2002 I believe. Yer would be good to see how these scratch removers work as my Nolan Helmet is scratched to hell, and they want £55 for the new visor.
  4. Sorry just tried and got not available as well. But just tried this and it worked, cut and paste in to ebay search: Plastic-Visor-Screen-Window-Scratch-Remover-motor-bike
  5. Hate gravity, it always puts you down Am a short arse as well 5,4 but after ready above fell quite tall, thanks. All lot of good points above, will also take on board as tippy toe on the gpz, not even sat on me vfr400 yet (needs repairs)
  6. Blimey, pic 8 on the photo bucket. coming off on that you'd be more worried about the bikes paintwork than personal injury.
  7. Ah so wish I had made the effort to go, was planning to all year and then something came up at work, dooh.
  8. Just had a peek on ebay and found this ebay.co.uk/itm/Plastic-Visor-Screen-Window-Scratch-Remover-motor-bike-/120338676751?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item1c04be7c0f#ht_934wt_1162 There is another version on there a well.
  9. Thanks will remember that next time, gave up looking in the end as it was on a public road, cars could have dragged it off or squished it. Got one from cradleys in the end at a whopping £10.50.
  10. That's what I thought as well, but none of them either. Just want to find replacement spring and there only whole Carburettors. Have sent a few emails to the sellers to see if they have spares knocking around.
  11. Just pinged my carb spring for my Kawasaki Gpz 750r and now can't find it anywhere . Anyone know where I can get another, have had a peak on ebay and nothing, I believe the gpz 900 should have the same size. Thanks Ohmagain
  12. I would take it back, it will most probably fail the mot (depending on where you take it of course). If one side is flashing faster than the other then they it will be seen as 'not operating correctly'.
  13. I seem to have problems with most government websites.
  14. Have seen some small glass suction gizmos (about 15-20 diameter) in laylands (tools and dec). Was thinking of trying one for my dent in my van. Other than that I would try and push it out from the inside (via fuel hole) using wooden spoon of something non sharp like that.
  15. ROFL, whould put a whole new meaning to a "drag" race. I do like the boot though, but clearly would be more of a challenge matching up with other stuff.
  16. To get out of that situation, i would have stuck one Viagra in my eye to 'look hard' he would have left. Sorry came to me whist reading, could not help myself
  17. Check out Hiking and climbers bags they are sturdy, waterproof and have front strap. Have noticed anything aimed at biker has a big mark up on it. Other than that find one you like in the shops and then ebay it.
  18. Washing the bike... What's that? Would love to take it through the auto car wash =) Joking, I just go for bucket of soapy water and sponge. Though if you see my bike you would understand why i don't go to town on it.
  19. Laughed until blue in the face... and now breath.

    Fuel life

I've just done a proper count up and believe that it it probably close to six month since the bike last run, (don't time fly). Though did top up about 3 months ago. Will try the starting with the plugs out to see if there is fuel left inside (thanks for that tip), will also check the pipework and fuel filter this weekend, have checked all sparks and they are all working. I noticed some kind of guey stuff at the bottom of my air filter a while ago, so I cleaned out and changed air filter but now see fibres from the filter around the housing (am thinking i should have washed and dried before using). I don't have my manual at the moment so cleaning the carb may have to wait.

    Fuel life

My bike has been sitting for some time now, I have changed the battery and the sparks. but she turns over but don't start. Along with the worry I've flooded the engine (which i will leave the sparks out for 24hrs) i was wondering if the fuel could have degraded and should i change it. How long can unleaded petrol be left for?
  22. Thanks WalneyFrankie, I do see the electrolyte as i have refilled and charged recently, but through the acid I see the plates are all white I'm guessing with corrosion. As I've been using it on fast charge should I just dispose of it (in a enviro friendly manner of course), as the it only lasts a couple of start attempts.
  23. Morning Everyone, Hope your week is working out well After reading a few articles about screwing up batteries from charging them with car chargers (and not being able to start mine). i,ve decided to change my battery as when i peered inside all the metal plates seem to be covered in white, which I'm assuming should probably be more metallic colour. Now I'm going to ave to go for a cheap replacement for now ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT ). I have a Kawasaki Gpz750 r 1984 model which has a CB14L-A2 battery. ANd the charger I have is a RAC HP026, which states for batteries Between 7ah and 180ah (CB14L-A2 is 14ah). Should I still use this or will it treat bike batteries like eggs and fry it. The Rac hp026 has fast charge and trickle as well and i noticed the ampage push on the trickle is a lot less, so should i use this and avoid fast charging.
  24. No my bike did hot have a kit with it, but managed to find he right spark plug socket in a random tool shop that I stopped in on the way to halfords. Thanks though. I changed the spark plugs but still not starting, belive my mate (not me of course ) moved the carb adjuster so I think I may have flooded the engine trying to correct and not remembering which way to turn it. Tomorrow I will remove the plug again to see if they are sparking and have a peek down the hole. If no joy will start a new thread.
  25. Hi all, Need to check/change the spark plugs on my bike (B reg 84 i think) GPZ 750R but am having trouble finding the right spark plug socket. I've been told it should be a 18mm, but car sockets don't fit down the shaft. Would 18mm be right and can anybody suggest the right tool and where best to get it. Thanks in advance
