Hello all,
I often find myself frequenting these forums as a guest user, usually brought in by a google search etc, but this time, I am unable to find a solution for my problem.
I am by no means a mechanic, but I can just about follow instructions to do things!
So, my bike, and yes, it's a moped/scooter/whatever you want to call it, it's a 125CC Yamaha Vity
The problem;
The bike doesn't want to start when cold, I have to open the throttle and it takes a few attempts, but usually fires up then. When first setting off, if I come to a stop at a junction or something, the bike wants to die, I have to keep the revs a little higher so it doesn't die.
This seemed to start after I changed the fuel pump, as the previous fuel pump became faulty and sounded like it was working at 100% all of the time.
What I have done so far;
I changed the air filter as it had become a little gunky
Cleaned the carb and air lines
Checked the battery (12.6v)
Changed the spark plug for a new one
Checked the compression (110psi - Little low maybe?)
Checked and adjusted the valve gaps of intake and exhaust
Checked the fuel injector (Appears to spray from all 3 holes quite well)
Slightly increased the idle screw
I'm kind of at a loss here as those are the problems I could find in my google searches.
Could it be the starter motor?
Could it be the starter solenoid?
Is 110Psi too low on the compression? I let it sit for a minute, and there was no loss. This bike has only an electric start and no kick on it.
It's a 2016 engine with about 9-10k miles on it, oil was changed about 500 miles ago.
I really appreciate anyone's help or advise about this, especially since this is currently my only transportation to commute to work.
